Default Alert: Walmart 500+ Blu movie rack

yes, true but your YMMV i have 5 Walmarts within 8 square miles of my house and the only one in Bucks Co. has a rack of Blu's. looks over 500+ Blu's. no they are not with the normal Blu's that are in the glass case. heck, there not even in the movie section but still in electronics.

the reason why i found them is because i got PISSED off cause i kept seeing the same Blu's in all stores. so i walked around to the next isle into the music section to leave and saw all these Blu's. my frown turned upside down

one problem they are NOT in any order and prices range from what i saw: $8 to $24. i didn't go thru all but i did buy 3. will go back tomorrow before it snows to buy more.

So EVERYBODY PLEASE check your Walmart music section for these Blu's.
remember YMMV

My local walmart had Electronics reset today, and they actually reduced the number of blus they carry. Total nonsense.

Was it a regular Wal-mart or a Supercenter?

My local "SUPERCenter" went from 4 large display racks to 2 smaller display racks and a small "Sony" display with about a dozen Sony Catalog titles.

They also Johnny Appleseed assorted titles in inappropriate areas, like mixed in with the discount standard DVDs.

My local walmart has been doing something similar, but they don't have 500 blus. They have the regular 4 foot glass case with planogrammed blus, some $10 and $13 blus in random spots near hd displays, and a huge pile of blus and games in the last section of the videogame case, which this store uses as a dumpster for lockup merchandise that isn't in the planogram. Hopefully this is leading to a real bluray section coming up in the next reset, I'm getting sick of Best Buy having no competition in my town.

all regular Walmarts, i will go tomorrow and write down alot of movies with prices. one thing i HATE about walmart is they hide stuff and don't mention - "we have more in this section". you always have to be not looking for them and "Bam" here they are.

but again i'll have a list for everybody tomorrow.....

Oh, i have 3 super walmarts but are pretty far away, but i'll be checking those out this weekend....

I just noticed this at my local WM this weekend too, probably not 400 but they had 3 more sections I'd never seen with probably 1-200 more titles.

a lot of wal-marts probably downsize their blu-ray stock because of low sales due to keeping the prices ridiculous.

After Christmas I went into wal-mart with a $25 gift card intending to get Inglorious Basterds. The Blu-ray was $28.99 and the DVD was $24.99.

I then loudly said "forget this, I'll just buy it from Amazon for $17".

We need to see pictures. Cellphone pictures would be better than nothing of these miraculous reports.

Even though I scored three of the Lionsgate titles today my Wal-mart's Blu-ray section is actually shrinking from when I was there last. The DVDs are now encroaching on their space.

I was at my local WM on Sunday and they were shifting a bunch of movies off a row. All that was left were a few Blu's on the top row, so i started to talking the the guy, telling him that they must be expanding the BD section because WM is the now the leading retailer of BD's (remember that story?).

His response surprised me. Not only are they not increasing BD shelving space, it is being reduced. DVD's are not selling either and they are being reduced. The do sell a "few" of the $10-12 BD's, but the only thing selling consistently are the $4-5 DVD's. I went in to the pricing thing at the store and he claimed that the prices are "set" outside of WM (He had me up 'til then but I called BS on that).

So, yes, they are reducing shelf space, because as he put it, "They just sit there collecting dust."

Mine had some 2 movie sets but for some reason all the new releases are gone, hope that's temporary, Wal-Mart has had some good NR prices recently.

There are 2 Wal-Marts near me. One is in the process of totally redoing the DVD and BD section. Today they had about a dozen $8 BDs, and maybe 30 titles at $20 and up. No $10 BDs, no two-packs. Discs used to be in locked cases, they've taken all those out and it looks like everything will be on regular shelf units. All DVDs and BDs are being put into one aisle.

The other WM had NO $8 BDs, about half a dozen $10 BDs, and about 20 two-packs for $20 (I picked up Commando/Predator). Plus their regular priced BDs. They had BDs spread out in at least 3 separate locations in the electronics department.

WM seems to be YMMV to the extreme.
