Default Region Free Blu-ray players

Can anyone recommend me a Blu-ray Player under $200 that is Region Free for both Blu-rays and DVDs?

I don't need all the bells and whistles, just a simple player that I can import and watch movies from other regions on and not have any trouble.

Any help is appreciated

I don't think such a device exists at that price point. The closest thing is probably the Momitsu ($250). The next cheapest that I know of is a combination of the OPPO BDP-80 ($289) and the DIY region-free mod ($69). There may be some places offering modded Sony, Panasonic, or Samsung players in the same price range, but I haven't looked into them.

Is there a way to know if anyone sell OPPO players in my region without the need to go buy from their website?

You can get the Sherwood BDP-5004. It is a clone of the Momitsu BDP-899 and it is currently $161 on Amazon.

Where are you? At the moment, OPPO Digital US is the only company selling either the BDP-83 or the BDP-80. There was talk of a European model of the BDP-83 (the BDP-831, I think), but it has not happened yet.

Montreal, I was hoping to buy an Oppo in a local electronic store around here but look's like that just not possible

OPPO doesn't sell through any stores - only online, either directly from OPPO or through a few other online dealers (such as Amazon.com and at least one Canadian distributor).

Thanks, that looks like the one I'll go for. I notice it's not sold by Amazon though, but by Ritz Camera. Has anyone ever ordered from them? Are they reliable?

Ritz Camera is one of if not the largest Photo store chains in the US. I have dealt with individual stores for some inexpensive photo supplies, but never for any on-line purchases. My guess is that should be OK and legitimate as a on-line seller.

Oppo has 2 authorized dealers in Toronto that you can arrange for pick-up.

Does anybody know if the Sherwood will convert 1080p/50 to 1080p/60 for display on US TVs? I would like to get a region-free BD so I can hurry up and get the BBC Life BD. I would love an Oppo but don't think I want to pay that much right now....

Thanks...
