Is was released on HD DVD, you can look up the review at least on High-Def Digest. Can't wait for it to come to Blu-ray.

Since WB hasn't released this movie yet on Blu, lets hope that they have gone back and are remastering the film to blu specs and hopefully with some HD sound. WB lack of putting HD sound on their most recent titles is starting to get old quickly.

Just cause a movie is older doesn't mean Blu Ray won't make it look great

Hopefully the classic. Cause I likewise loathe the Tim Burton version.

well considering tim burtons version is called "Charlie and the Chocholate Factory" and not "Willy Wonka..." im guessing were talking about the Gene version. which was good how it was in my opinion.

I try not to assume, but this time I'm leaving open the possibility the OP had the title wrong, not realizing the titles of the two movies are actually different... which is why I was asking...

I wouldn't mind seeing the classic on blu, but how much better than the DVD version could it look?

Yes A Classic. And Yes We Are Talking About The 1971 Film Not Charlie And The Chocolate Factory Which I Did Not Like. I Hope That Willy Wonka Comes To Blue As Soon As Possible.

I just watched the old one on TV yesterday. I love it and would definitely pick up a Blu-ray release (after my Warner boycott has ended and only with lossless audio and a decent transfer).

It's funny to read all the comments saying 'i don't care about the video quality' since I figured that was why most people upgraded to Blu from DVD - the video quality. Of course the audio quality is very important too and this one would definitely have to be lossless for me to pick it up.

I think the HD DVD of Willie Wonka was one of the "bobbed" 1080i transfers. Hopefully WB will go back and remaster it like they did for The Perfect Storm.
