Default Bluetooth Headset question

Hi, last week I went out and got a raincheck on a bluetotth headset for 10 bucks. It's the Wireless Gear 4PR909.

It's my first set and just bought it to go along with my PS3. But had a quick question: At the moment when I talk into it, my voice comes out high pitch/squeaky. Is that how its supposed to be or since its a cheap model thats how it catches my voice?

You can adjust the pitch of your voice in the accessories section. I can't remember where exactly though.

Yeah I went to the link where you can test out the mic of the headset and change the mic levels from 1 through 5, but with all settings it still stayed high pitched. Maybe theres another option like you said that Im missing. Ill take a look a little bit later to see if I can change it up, if not Ill return it. Like I said it was a cheap one so guess thats the drawback of that headset.

XMB > Settings > Accessory Settings > VOICE CHANGER.

That is where you can find the adjustment needed to remedy your helium voice.

Default Bumping an old thread

Will any bluetooth headset work with the PS3 for online gaming? Are they any different than a bluetooth ear piece you would use with your cell phone? I have a couple of old ones around that I could use unless there's some reason why I would need to go out and buy some specific model.

Also is there any type of wired headset available that plugs into the controller? I would rather go this route to minimize the number of things that take batteries or have to be recharged.

any blutooth works.
just make sure after you pair it with the ps3 that you go into the mic settings in the xmb and turn ON the mic otherwise even if you pair the blutooth nothing will happen

i learned this from experience lol

Ok thanks. I'm guessing that once you've got a bluetooth ear piece paired and set up that it's always hot when you've got it turned on? I ask this because I'm most familiar with the 360 wired headset that plugs into the controller. There's a switch on it that allows you to turn the mic off on your end so you can just hear but can't talk back. It's handy when my wife walks in and asks me a question. I just bump the switch that's right under my thumb and everyone on my team doesn't have to hear our conversation.
