Default Amazon, great prices but terrible shipping time?

I ordered two Blu-Rays yesterday morning and I thought that since both items are in stock they would ship that day or today. Having yet to get a ship notice I look at the online invoice and it says that it's not going to ship until the 8th.

WTF?!?! Why would it take a week for two in stock items to ship? I haven't ordered from Amazon in a while, but I remember them shipping extremely quick.

I'm starting to think that paying a few extra bucks to buy them locally is better than waiting two weeks to get my order.

Anyone have any idea what is up with this?

you probably picked the free shipping option-- that delays your order on the average of 5 days. Most of the time however they ship sooner than that and once they ship I always get my orders pretty fast.

AMAZON is still the best overall deal around as far as I'm concerned..

Get Amazon Prime. Problem solved.

Default Does not bother me

Once in awhile an item might be in stock and you order it, but somebody beat you too it, and thus it is delayed. This happens once twice a year to me, but I don't let it bother me. It balances out the once or twice I get a release a day early (yes, I have Prime).

That's too bad. I usually always do the free shipping option and it's at my house within 5 business days of the order. I don't need 3 extra days to watch a movie or play a game. Fortunately now I have signed up for the 3-month of free prime, and that will make life quicker. I just haven't been buying much on Blu since Christmas since I don't have the money or time to throw around.

I use Amazon all the time to get Blu-rays and always pick the free shipping option. On average it takes about 5-6 days from the time I place my order to the time they arrive in the mail. I have noticed though that the shipping estimate that Amazon gives you shows a shipping window with about a two week cushion. I think they do this to cover their bases. But usually it will take a day or two before they actually ship the items depending on the time of day you ordered the items.

Unless you have prime they take their sweet time sending out your order. I don't order from amazon very often unless it is something that I can wait a week or two to get because I dont want to pay for prime.

Yes, that has been my experience with low cost shipping from amazon as well. The order will not leave the warehouse until 4 or 5 days later(even if it's in stock) and then shipping takes an additional 3 to 5 days.

They ostensibly sit on their duffs when you aren't a Prime member. I say ostensibly because what they say and what they estimate or do aren't always the same thing. That said, things have been slipping the last 6 months or so. Amazon used to be a slam-dunk, even though I'm in one of the 4 states that pays sales tax, but since they started using this crappy UPS/FedEx/USPS shipping I shop around a lot more.

Get the free three months of Prime and you'll be covered for a little while at least.

even with the low cost shipping i never had much of a problem, but theres a lot of shipping centers within a few states of my house, so usualy the transit time is pretty low. But as some one said, if you buy alot from amazon, prime i find is really worth it, fast shipping, i've actually gotten some stuff next days with just the 2 day prime. i grabbed it for the 3 months free, and i had it before, but i think i'm going to keep it going this time around

Amazon gave me a free $10 giftcard because the item arrived one day late.

Wait to see when it actually ships. About 95% of the time, Amazon ships way before their "estimated" ship date.

I understand that this isn't a "Hot Deal", however it seemed to be the most appropriate place to discuss this.

Apparently, Amazon Free Shipping is a "Cold Deal".

Jeez, you haven't even waited a day yet. It will probably ship out tonight or tomorrow.

It's been well over 24 hours now.

Regardless, I signed up for a free Prime trial and upgraded the shipping for free. We'll see how that goes.
