Default Should you be able to return PSN purchases?

Just wondering what you think. I think so. I mean for a reduced credit back of course. But it would be fair to do it that way. There are a few purchases I regret lol.

I don't think so, a better solution would be to provide PSN rental services where you pay a fixed amount and the license expires after a certain period has passed and then you must either rent again or buy the product (where the license would not expire)

I like the preview approach. I think allowing returns, even at a reduced credit, can promote abuse. That is, unless you cap the number of allowable returns in a given period of time.

I guess that would be sort of like timeouts in games. If you have a limited number, you'll use them wisely.

As it stands now? No. Returns would add way too much overhead to the buying process (from Sony's point of view). Too much room for abuse.

"Trade-ins" or rentals would be a much better solution I think.

Just like with store bought disc content you can't open a game/movie/music and try it, decide you don't like it, and return it. Since there aren't defective PSN games there is no necessity for returns.

No, and here's why: publishers won't like it. The execs will see it as reduced revenue and decide not to give PSN time of day. To give you a glimpse into this kind of thing, a lot of publishers are already pissed that Sony charges them, instead of the consumer, for bandwidth, and they are just as pissed about game sharing, which they see as an 80% reduction in potential sales (when we all know that's clearly not the case).

If you keep adding fuel to this fire, games aren't going to be on PSN.

Default Just give us some game previews.

If they would have more previews available for games on the PSN network thingy I might actually buy more games.

They have zero previews for the PSone classics? Why? Just put them up and you will sell more of those.

the problem with rentals or returns would also come from the thousands of trophy hunters. I'd DEFIANTLY rent a game for $2 and get all the trophies and never play it again opposed to spending $5-10 for it.

No to OP question.

The preview of 1943 got me to buy it.

Give us more previews and I would buy more.

Then have it set up where you lose your trophies when you return a game.

Not sure how they would do that, but it might help.

Either that or it saves a temp file to the PS3 HD, and once it's purchased, all the trophies kick in.

but if you rent a game you and the creator are agreeing to a limited price for a limited use. They couldn't take the trophies back because you lived up to your part of the deal.

No but I do think there should just be more demos and trailers so people can try it out for free or watch some clips and if they they want to download the game based by the demo or trailer then let them. I know sometimes demos and trailer may vary and could be different then the actual game but does give the person a basic idea on what to expect before buying it. I know I would of played some demos before purchasing on a couple of games I bought on PSN that I wish I hadn't but there was no demo available or even a trailer so I didn't know what to expect.

But I do say any game that's over 6GB download should just be a retail release but that's a whole different issue I have.

Then just do the temp file thing. The trophies don't register unless you BUY it.

+4.25

I really couldn't agree more as this is a win-win situation. Not only does the PSN store get the money for the rental, but they get the additional money for the PSN purchase when you want to buy their quality product.

I beleive the new PSN service that they are preparing comes with a service similar to this. It will allow fulll access to play all ps1 classics as long as you have active service. I'll try to dig the info out but i'm almost positive that this was one of the "perks" of paying for service.
