Default Any of you feel this way too?

I dont know why but I always feel obligated to buy the sequals to originals even though I dont like them as much. Most cases they have no re-watch value for me but I have this completist instinct I need to have them all. One example is I like Batman 1989, Batman Returns 1992, Batman Begins and dont care much about Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, Dark Knight but I am sure at one point I will buy Batman Anthology, Batman Begins and Dark Knight.

No obligation on my end....If I want to buy it, I will, if I don't, I won't

I agree, I feel I have to get the sequels too and I don't know why as in many cases I don't like them. Maybe it's due to my OCD. I am trying to beak that habit as it will free up my wallet for other more worthy releases I want on my shelf.

You don't like The Dark Knight?!

I'll only buy a sequel if its good and I enjoy it. I don't feel that I NEED to have them.

I feel no obligation whatsoever to buy Batman & Robin, Batman Forever, Spiderman 3, or Superman Returns.

I don't always feel this way, but occasionally I do. For big name movies like Terminator, Alien and the Batman series, yeah... I usually like to get them all. But, let's say a movies' sequels are really bad, I'm looking at things like Jaws, Children of the Corn, Neverending Story, things of that nature where the sequels are just really God awful, then I don't give a crap about having them all.

Yeah, me too. I got the Batman (89) digibook, thinking i was good to go, but everytime i see that anthology set staring at me from the shelves i'm tempted to buy it, even though i think the sequels were all pretty bad.

I caved in with the Saw franchise: the only ones i really liked were I, II, and VI, but i own every single entry. To be honest though, i found them all for about $15 or less, and so i felt compelled to complete my collection.

No, I don't feel that way. While I do have the GF and Spidey trilogies, it's because I like at least two of the three in each box. Others like Die Hard, Infernal Affairs and Jaws, I'd just get the first one because the others don't live up to the original.

I can't believe you put the Dark Knight in the same category as Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. Thats unheard of!

I buy what I like and not what I don't.
I have T1, T2 and Salvation but have no intention of buying T3. POS!!

Really depends on the series. Some things I have a fondness for (Halloween, Superman) no matter how silly the sequels get.

Other things, I have absolutely no issue skipping. There's not much of a pattern.

For example, I have every Halloween movie ever made (most in multiple versions). But Nightmare on Elm St, I have the 1st and 3rd and happily ignore all of the others.

Doesn't work that way with me. If I didn't like the movie, then I didn't like the movie.

I have Ocean's 11 and 13. I have Mission:Impossible and M:I III.

Purchasing a movie that you don't like and simply is for the name and continuation is a big donation to the studios. They say thank you.

Nope. If we don't like them enough to watch at least a couple of times per year we don't buy. Or, if the sequel was really bad, we don't even acknowledge the existence of a sequel - for example, The Mummy: Legend of the Tomb Emporer or whatever the heck Mummy III was called doesn't even truly exist in time or space. Figment of imaginations. They stopped after the second Mummy Returns movie, right?

Oh yeah, speaking of the Mummy, I only own the first one from that franchise too.

I cant say I dislike it. I watched it in the movies since then I never felt like watching it again. Its just my personal taste. I personaly like Tim Burton's vision( I am not a Batman expert, I dont know if its loyal to the original). But as I said eventually I will buy that one as well.

Off the top of my head these are the movies with sequals I will mostlikely buy eventhough I dont care much for the later instalments

Batman The Movie*, Batman*, Batman Returns*, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Batman Begins*, The Dark Knight

Terminator**, Terminator 2 The Judgement Day**, Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines**, Terminator Salvation, Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles Season one and two**

Transformers**, Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen

Rocky**, Rocky I-VI, Rocky Balboa*

Heroes Season One*, Heroes Season Two, Heroes Season Three

Planet of the Apes 1968*, Planet of the Apes UCE, Planet of the Apes 2001*

X-Men*, X-Men Trilogy, X-Men Volverine

Alien Legacy I-IV*, Predator*, Predator 2*, AVP, AVP2

* I like but dont own it yet
** I like and already own it
