Default I really do feel sorry for

the poor women who saw that wal-mart comercial and got their hubbies an hd dvd player, a toshiba two weeks after xmas when wb leaves red, her husband is going to have nothing to watch on it and a few months after that the format is going to be obsolete. she is going to feel like a huge idiot and i don't think its right that wal-mart was pulling those type of commercials.

Unfortunately, "Business is Business". Walmart could always claim ignorance / innocence as they are only retailers. "We don't make the stuff!"

I see plenty of angry customers being refused returns after January 31, 2008. Even the most liberal of return policies is going to see some major revisions.

Landfill parties, anyone?

oh man i hope warner does go blu becasue it will be hilarious to watch. I think I might open an account at AVS the day it happens, just to be part of the hilariousness that ensues

Of course I guess we should still not be counting our chickens until they hatch

Women don't generally buy electronics on their own research though. If they bought a player it's likely due to the fact that they heard their husband say he wanted one. The blame would likely fall square on the husband receiving it.

Well yeah. Right now I want that inferior format to die. But all wars have casualties, sadly ...

You can return stuff for like 60 days or something at WalMart.

If you want to feel sorry for anyone it's either the people working retail who will have to help clean up after this mess or it's the people who can't be bothered to save the receipt and packaging who will own true paperweights.

No one will reasonable intellegence will fall into either catagory for the most part.

I wrote an article for our local paper titled "It's all over but the shouting. Blu-Ray Pummels HD-DVD". The last sentence says "So when does the shouting start? That happens when the poor folks who bought HD-DVD players find out their stuff has no future."

I think there is going to be a lot of pain for those folks and M$ has a lot to answer for, for doing their best to muddy the Hi-Def waters.

Reminds me of one Christmas in the late 80's where my sister bought me a computer magazine as part of my gift. It was for Commodore 64, and I had a Texas Instruments 99/4A :eyes: She couldn't understand the difference.

Fortunately she had a son who got into computers and technology because of me. They have "technology talks" so today even she knows the difference between blu-ray and HD DVD.

I know women aren't stupid, but exactly what blinds so many of them to technology toys and their differences?

Anyone?

Don't count your chickens before they hatch, but you don't make an omlet without breaking some eggs. Come the time WB choose I hope were not the ones left with egg on our faces.

Electronics has always had a more male appeal to it... women are not stupid at all, don't get me wrong on that, but they are just not as interested in it as men are. Having said that, there are always exceptions to the rule. (mystik)

An article in the newspaper actually used the term "their stuff has no future"?

yep, the hd dvd owners are going to be screaming and citing PR that said hd dvd was winning, and ms is going to look at it and say, "oh that just said that we had a better attach rate, not that we were selling more discs."
