Canada HOME THEATER versus THE CONDO... 2010 Upgrades

Here are my new updates for 2010
- Marantz SR7002 7.1 Receiver
- APC H10 Power Conditioner
- Polk Audio CSI A6
- Western Digital Live
- Carver TFM55x Power Amp for RTI 10's
- Raised my rear surround and surround backs to above ear level
- Modified Wall Unit with shelves for AMPs (top area)

1st Installment (2009)
The battle was heavily one side as the condo had one key figure in its corner .... MY GIRLFRIEND

Anyways i managed to make it livable for both of us

Check out the pics in my gallery

Ive also included picture from my home theaters of the past!!!!

O yeah - on another note, how do i added my movie collection to "collection"

Very nice. Never seen anyone stack their front tower on a sub though. How's that work?

As for the collection thing: Just type the name of the movie up in the right corner search box and make sure the search criteria is set to MOVIES. Also, i'm pretty sure you have to be logged in, in order to get the "add to collection" tab. Anyways, the search will take you to the movie's "home page," so to speak. Once you're there, just click on the movies title or cover art and this will take you to another page where you scroll down about half way and the "add to collection tab" will be on the left hand side of the page. Click it and then it will direct you to another page where you can add comments and such. There will be another box there that says "add to collection." Just click that one and you're done.

search each and every movie you have, and when you go to the page displaying the movie, you'll see a button that says "Add to Collection", and then from there it's pretty self-explanitory. Do this for each movie. The search box is in the upper right of your screen, just be sure it's selected to 'movies', which I think it is by default. If your search turns up more than one pic of the movie you searched, it's most likely because of other region releases.

edit: Riff beat me to it.

ahhh, i see that must've been your old setup where you had the tower on the sub. New condo looks sweet. I've always wanted to be able to say i have a condo. Seems so upper crust. Naw, i like having a house. My neighbors are either deaf or really cool, so i get no guff.

yeah this one my older setup
it worked well - had to put some rubber under the feet to keep it from moving around - and when i say "well" i mean as good as it could get with that junk of a polk sub. im a polk guy, but that subs was crap!

you bet, well actually i got them during the aftermath of a boxing day sale
i was lucky to find two open boxes at futureshop and only ended up paying $215 each speaker. not bad for a speaker that was selling for about $800 .

Noticed the "safety chain" on the projector. Just a little extra protection!

Noticed the polarity on a speaker is reversed, maybe its just the connectors are swapped and the wire is correct; you have black wire connector to the red terminal on the speaker and vice-versa.

I sometimes find it strange why some people have a nice big flat screen tv with a projector at the same time. I drive a big truck but dont carry a mini cooper in the back. Either crawling space attic or not you could still manage to conceal the wiring of the projector inside your walls especially the celing if the boards running the same direction of your system. Speakers are awesome especially the sub. Wiring management is a big concern to me. You could still use thinner wires for the rear hidden behind the crown moulding around the room if possible. Youre not going to lose a lot of sound quality reducing the gauge of those speaker wires.

Besides the obvious impact of a large front pj setup for movies or sports, a major limitation is that they are best viewed in a darkened environment, and are very unforgiving of ambient light. The flatscreen thus comes in handy when one has limited control of ambient light, such as during daytime viewing, or when a darkened environment is not desired. Personally, I have a 140" scope front pj setup for dedicated movie viewing at nite, and a 65" CRT RPTV for more casual viewing....makes perfect sense, to me .... ....btw, to the OP -- nice setup!

Nice set up, I like your front sound stage. You could use a little more wire management (your gf will prob appreciate it ). Also, where did you get your entertainment center? I like it.

I would guess that it also makes sense to spare some hours on the projector's lamp for normal TV watching...

To the op: By the way, nice setup! It's the first time I've seen a projector mount like that!

Nicely put "AmbientCafe", I also have a 52" 120Hz Sammy for daytime viewing and gaming and use the PJ strictly for movies. It's nice to break out the popcorn and pull down the screen and watch superwide, gives it that cinema feel.

I would also like to note, this is a solution for us HT enthusiasts that do not have the room for a dedicated constant height set up. I would love to set up a dedicated room just for HT just don't have the space at the moment.

Btw OP, great set up and nice Rig, I was going to buy some additional HT items but decided to throw $1400 into a new Rig, 4890XT Quad Core 2.83's 12GB Ram....I didnt understand just how geeky i was until i realized i had a grin on my face the whole time i was building it....Sad part was i had no OS and then a friend of mine told me that Windows 7 Beta is out and sure enough it came to my rescue...nice little OS, much better than that Vista shytes....anyhow back to HT! Very nice work!

Yeah i still have some hiding to do
-The entertainment center was purchase from a local liquidation center, put it this way: GOod from far, far from good.
Cheap design - wish i had a house with a garage, i would have built if from scatch
-The thing took me 3 hours to put together, never again will i do that.
ill leave it at the condo if i can fit it through the door!!

Yeah - using the projector during the day for requires me to be in pretty much total darkness

I use the projo for Formula one, lost, Sarah chronicles (hope it get picked up agian) Fringe, plus movies and some gaming

The mount was a must... we have radiant heating and i cant drill into the ceiling

My goal was to make some thing small for the HT
i only spent about 600 bucks to make the little thing - but its the fastest machine Ive ever made - runs anything i through at it

Building/customizing machines has become an addiction over the years (side lined due to HT)
A big sense of accomplishment the first time it boots up

Also added a new addition to the family today

POLK AUDIO CSI A4 center speaker
