Hey all,
I just put up the first pics of my home theater in my condo. My family purchased a condo near my college for me to live in the next two/three years and for my sister to go to when she goes to school here. It will be either two or three years depending on whether or not my sister goes to a technical school first. It's a two bedroom place and we're renting out the other room to a friend of mine for $400 a month. The picture is a little bit blurry becuase my digital camera is old and I need to clean the lens. I have my Polk Monitor 60's and 30's coming in tomorrow and hope to order a center speaker and a reciever (Pioneer SC-05) before the end of the month. The pic is a bit darker than real life, and the picture on the television screen isn't nearly as bright/clear as it is in real life obviously. I ordered the Cherry Polk's, but they aren't going to quite match my entertainment system ( which does have glass doors, it appears to be one color in the picture becuase of the darkness ). Has anyone ever painted their speakers to match their system? Comments and opinions are appreciated. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Wait a tic: all the furniture matches, shoot. Maybe you can find some sort of accent piece to put in the room that matches the Polk's finish. Something like a big shelf unit with the exact same finish may be enough to make it all look "on purpose." Wecome, looks like you have VERY sweet condo/arrangement for a college student. My dorm rooms and apartments were the size of my current bathroom. Last edited by Grevlin; 07-06-2009 at 02:13 AM. |

Nice setup dude. As a fellow college student myself, I know how sweet it is to actually have a nice setup like this at our age. As for your speakers, if you still want to change the color, you can just stain them. I was going to stain my Cherry R50's but I ended up finding a nice spot for them in my "smaller" setup and now they match

I've added a few new images to the gallery. They now include my new reciever (Pioneer SC-25) and my front L/R and back surrounds. My center channel and subwoofer should arrive tomorrow. I'll be sure to update when I get them set up, and again when I get everything hooked up after my banana plugs and speaker wire arrive.
Note: I took the back off the entertainment center to allow more space for the SC-25's depth. I believe this will also help keep things cool as well. |

Very Nice System You Have Going There.
You will Love the Addition of a Center Speaker to Lock the Dialouge to the TV Screen. But Excellent Choice with the Pioneer Elite AVR.A First Class Reciever and Incredible Performer. And ALWAYS an EXCELLENT Choice To Go With Polk Speakers. Congratulations and Welcome. ![]() |

Also, do you normally keep the cloth grills off your speakers as they're shown in the photos? They might appear to match better with the grills in place. The silver faces provide a stark contrast to your TV cabinet, and the grills may help soften that transition to the cherry. Just a suggestion. Finally, great condo. You're fortunate to have a nice place like that for college. Just don't throw any parties if you like your gear. If word ever gets out, and you have no control over that, you'll have a ton of people you don't know spilling beer from their red plastic cups. |

My center and sub came in. They look great, but the center blocks a bit of my screen. For instance, if watching ESPN I could see the game, but the bottom ticker would be blocked at the bottom.
Anyone have any ideas, besides mounting the TV ( which I'm thinking about ) to fixing this? |

![]() You may want to try experimenting with speaker placement. Move the fronts away from the wall some, try various toe-in positions, and try facing the surrounds more towards the listening area versus straight ahead. |
