Thanks for the info. I would guess this is for the same reason as the commentaries were dropped from the Pirates Blu-rays here, i.e. they won't re-encode the movie just for a UK release so have to remove something to make space for extra language tracks. Very poor.

In the case of Pirates, it has German and Italian language tracks with DD 5.1 and DTS HD MA versions of both.

Since there is a German version coming too this seems kind of odd. I have a couple of English DVDs and there is no German audio on these. Well, I guess this far in the game every studio tries to save as much money as possible...

I ordered The Rock from Play, but they're still waiting for stock. I know it has been released because it's on the shelf in HMV. Same with Flatliners from dvd.co.uk - they're waiting for stock. My copy of Enter The Dragon was posted to me last Thu, though, ahead of release date, but hasn't arrived yet. Was hoping to pick up Ghost Rider and The Prestige in store from Blockbuster where the prices are normally reasonable and I can trade old discs in, but they didn't have any of the new releases on the shelves. We need more Blu-ray production plants!!!

Just had an email from Play to say that The Rock has just shipped, guess I won't be watching it this weekend as they normally take 4 to 5 days to arrive in the post

Weirdly, their site is still saying it's out of stock.

Sony have said in a newsletter that all their European releases will be region free. They will only use region coding on new movies still up on theaters.

WHAT?! DTS-HD MA for German and Italian soundtracks? That's so stupid. The *only* track that deserves any kind of lossless or PCM treatment are the ones in their ORIGINAL native intended language.

It's possible they only received enough copies to fill outstanding orders, a lot of discs seem to be out of stock a lot of the time at many retailers.

They posted my copy of The Rock today as well. Judging from how long Enter The Dragon took to arrive, I don't expect to receive The Rock till Wednesday next week.

I couldn't agree more, a purist level of audio quality for audio tracks that only a non-purist would listen to. And the space these tracks use up is preventing them from including commentaries!
