Default PQ On Austin Powers BoxSet-Difference Between Region 1 & Region Free sets please

Hi

I just bought the CDN Region 1 today for about $49.99

I have been seeing a few topics about people sending back there Region 1 Copies.

Do the Region Free box sets have more special Features and no censorship

I'm I missing anything from not buying the states copy???

How does the PQ look on Austin powers, I have been hearing Great things but then hear they look so bad people trade them in.: confused:

Thanks

A few days ago I was posting about my concerns about the region coding on these discs as I had bought the US version off Amazon MarketPlace but gotten the Canadian version. To my surprise, the discs were Region Free and had the same bonus features as the US discs.

I believe they are the exact same discs with different prints/packaging as their American counterparts.

Yeah you have the Canadian version, just like I do.

Alliance are just stupid and put Region 1 on all their releases... Region 1 was for DVDs...

You can ask the Cap'n.

Rest assured my friend, you're not missing anything. The Canadian set mirrors the US one. The films themselves look great. Enjoy.

I have said this in several other Austin Powers threads here, and I'm saying it again.

The US version of the first movie is missing some scenes compared to the European version.

but to be fair, I believe the scenes were missing in the theatrical presentation in NA as well. I never saw the original in theatres though, so I'm not 100%

Are the missing scenes included as deleted scenes on the NA versions at least?

Yes.

And seriously you're not missing anything. They slow the plot down more than anything else seriously...

The Christian Slater scene is great!!! I agree that the scenes isn't as important as the extra 28 minutes in The Abyss for example, but I would pick the European version over the US version any time.

I didn't seem to see the Christian Slater scene in the deleted scenes bonus feature. I only remember Michael McDonald.

That's because the censored scenes isn't in the deleted scenes section of the US release. To see these you have to buy the European version.

Sadly, that's true... But I'm sure it's right around the corner (since number 2 and 3 have just been released).

Different company have the rights to the first one...

The UK version despite having a AVC codec is absolutely horrible. It looks so soft, washed out and processed with so much ugly digital noise and blown highlights. The U.S version has much more detail, better sharpness, stronger colours and tighter compression.

Vanessa's ass look so much hotter with detail!

It's my understanding though that the US version is cut.

The Christian Slater scenes are on the retail VHS (shown after the film has ended). I don't know why New Line left them off of the DVD and Blu-ray (I believe the VHS tape also has a third alternate ending).

But at least the Blu-ray has the correct aspect ratio (the DVD was 2:1).

New Line cut the film down in the US after the film tested poorly (at the time, it got the worst test screening scores in the company's history). Every release in the US (theatrical, video, DVD, Blu-ray) has been the New Line cut of the film.
