Default Slowly making the transition to Blu-ray...

So I just purchased 6 Blu-Ray movies off of Amazon and should be here either today or tomorrow. I was just curious about opinions on the quality of these releases. Here are the ones I picked up:

The Departed
The Prestige
Rocky Balboa
Donnie Brasco
Goodfellas

btw, I also own 300 on Blu-Ray (my first blu-ray purchase -- I now think im hooked) which is awesome.

Goodfellas I have seen on BluRay and it looks great! That is the only one out of the bunch that I have seen as of yet. Prestige, was a good movie. I am sure that one will look very good.

Thanks for the info. I've heard some people say that 'The Prestige' is one of the best Blu-Ray releases.

Hopefully anyday now I should be getting my 5 free Blu-Ray movies -- I sent them away the day after the official PS3 price drop and being that people who sent them away after that date and have recieved them would hopefully mean I will be getting them this week.

I chose: The Guardian, Blazing Saddles, Babel, Stir of Echoes, and Transporter 2. Sorry for all the questions about PQ, but just curious as to how these movies stack up -- picture quality/the film itself (I've only seen The Guardian and thought it was fairly decent). Thanks again for the replies.

the prestige is the sh*t, you should check out layer cake and kingdom of heaven if its PQ your looking for.

Saw Layer Cake on HDNet movies, it's kinda different, I'd take the movie Blow over Layer Cake Anyday.

Just curious...besides Amazon, can I find Layer Cake cheaper that $20? I've never seen it and after reading about it, I'm kinda intereseted.

I have 300 and The Prestige both are very good movies. I haven't picked up the other yet.

Here’s four movies with good PQ and AQ you might want to think about
Kingdom of Heaven
Pirates of the Caribbean 1 & 2
Casino Royale

Shooter and Blue Planet looks great too, but the best in IMO are both Pirates movies and Apocalypto

I'm only the Forums since I'm hoping to go Blu-Ray next Christmas rush when the prices come down, and literally counting the minutes till Oct. 31--
(No, seriously: Got one of those little countdown-timer Mac widgets...84 days till Blu-Ray Finally Works day.)

As such, I've cornered off an entire section of my Netflix queue for already-released Blu-Ray movies I'm not going to rent until I've got my new system (nope, still haven't seen Superman Returns yet, and I missed Pirates 3 in the theaters...)--
As for buying, though, I'm not THAT oversmitten with cool technology that I'd buy anything I can get my hands on, and am already compiling a select list of upgrade titles I already respect enough to own on SD:

Any recoms/warnings on:
- Chicago
- Chronos (seriously--If you've never seen this in IMAX, rent it, and if you're an old "Koyaanisqatsi" fan who's never seen it but whose jaw dropped through the floor at the embarassing corniness of "Naqoyqatsi", rent this one immediately )
- Unforgiven (thanks for going dual, Warner, now how about "Robin Hood", "Casablanca" and "Excalibur"?)
- Untouchables?

EricJ, I too would love to see Casablanca on Blu-Ray. Just curious, does anyone how the HD-DVD picture quality was for this release?

edit: I just e-mailed Warner Bros. asking if they will be releasing Casablanca on Blu-Ray. Hopefully I'll get an answer soon.
