In case you dont know, movies and TV weren't always in color *Gasp*. When Movies finally made it to color, they started to come out with (then) expensive TV sets which could show off this color. Now that we have HD and TVs to display it, is the transition to HD the same as the one for color?
Right after they moved to color they started to colorize Black and White movies. I have a few of them. Now they are making older movies High Def. Am I right? Is this the same? |

I dunno- there are some parallels between the transition to color and to HD. You need a new set to view the difference. Many people are/were "happy with" what they already had. New sets are/were expensive. There were similarities in showing off your setup- then it just happened to be only the color television instead of the entire movie/HDTV/sound setup.
Overall, adoption is going to be fairly slow at first but will pick up (has already picked up). Everyone knows about HDTV and that's it's the "best thing" even if they don't know why. More shows are filmed for TV in HD and are filmed in wide aspect ratios (usually 1.85:1). Overall I think they're pretty similar. VHS > DVD was a big jump as well but only required a new player, not a new television set. It was a huge jump in quality but arguably so is going to color over black and white. |

2nd place: DVD - An entire movie fit onto the 12cm disk. 3rd place: Blu-ray, an evolutionary step over DVD. The next time I will really be WOWed will be when there is a 100" clear flexible 4K OLED on my wall. Last edited by U4K61; 01-12-2010 at 05:01 PM. |
