Thumbs down BDP-S1 Layer Transition Freeze

I just hooked up my new player today. I played the SD version of The Wild for my kids. About half way through the picture froze.

The display read STILL. I had to hit stop and then play and it passed what I assume to be the layer transition. It is a dual-layer DVD.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

Very disappointing.

I really don't know anything about that player or the title but the first question is always: Have you upgraded to the latest firmware version?

No. I didn't know the firmware upgrade would address this issue.

this is the first i have heard of this. however, a firmware upgrade may have fixed it. that, or it may have been a bad smudge...

I have no idea if it will, but that is the first thing I would try (OK, second after theknub's suggestion that it could be a smudge ). Plus you want to make sure you are on the latest firmware for when you get movies that have the latest BD-J stuff on them.

This definitely occurred at the layer transition. I will try the firmware upgrade. Hopefully, this player is running an old version and this will fix the problem. Thanks!
