Default A smudge on the picture

When I watch a movie on the ps3 like I am legend. There is a smudge when they move sometimes like in dark places. I am wondering if it is my tv or hdmi or ps3? And want to see if this is common on these movies.

Thanks

I'd like to help you, but could you elaborate? What do you mean by smudge?

I'm inclined to say it's the TV. I'm fairly confident it is not the HDMI or the PS3, but more info from you would help out.

Like after they move it kinda as a blur where they once where for like a second. I saw it in the movie I am Legend, Superbad, Walk Hard And plus this tv is not calibrated. I dont even know how to do that kinda thing.

Does your TV employ a motion blur-reducing technology? In my Sony it is called MotionFlow.

Edit: If you post the model number of your TV, I can look it up and help you troubleshoot.

That could be your problem. Motion blur-reducing engines like tru motion and MotionFlow help to smooth out some of the motion, but it tends to introduce compression artifacts. Can you go into your settings and see if you have it turned on? In my experience, the artifacts show up when I have MotionFlow turned to High. I keep it turned off for blus and gaming; I only turn it on for cable / sports.

As for calibration, there are a number of means at your disposal. you can browse the site to find someone with your model TV and PM him for the settings. You can hire someone (like Best Buy) to come to your house and do it. Or you can buy a calibration disc and do it yourself.
