The Hurt Locker is a great movie, I keep loaning it out to everyone I know to check it out.

Glad to see BAFTA isnt drinking the Avatar kool-aid.

I saw these yesterday. Nothing too surprising, considering I think The Hurt Locker is still considered the favorite at the Oscars, and Bigelow being a virtual lock for Best Director. Time magazine has a short piece on her this week.

And is anyone really surprised that Firth and Mulligan beat out the non-Anglo competition?

I dunno, I don't think The Hurt Locker is THAT good. It's a well-made tense film, but the acting isn't all that great. But I just think I'm a bit angry with it because it took best original screenplay.

The cinematography was pretty good, {especially in the opening scene of the Hurt Locker} but it's most everything else that was subpar.

I heard a lot of good things about Fish Tank. Will check it out when it comes out on Blu.

I love those small independant British films

For the categories that apply to both award shows, this is exactly how I feel the Oscars should go.
