Sorry, I must disagree with these.

In recent years, the ones that really really shocked me:

The Hurt Locker
Crash

Almost every year though, I feel that there are multiple nominees that are worthy of winning and I don't mind if one of them wins. But I hate when barely good movies get the nod, like the two above.

And when The Departed won, I was a bit disappointed because I thought the movie was great but not really worthy over the others. I think Scorsese should have won one a long time ago for Goodfellas not this.

Avatar was most favorite. But the Hurt locker defeated Avatar. Bad news for the AVATAR fan. Hurt locker won best film and director awards and more 4 awards.

Slumdog.

I thought they were going to invent new catagories during the show to throw more Oscars at that movie.

That's actually how I felt about Titanic way back when. No movie should ever win as many Oscars as that one did.

always loved the arrogance of people who believe that any movie that wins other than what THEY think should win, is "undeserving"

lol

I KNEW Hurt Locker was going to win, and stand by it.
(Granted, I had my betting pool still set on Up's Pixar-drafting, but last summer's "Decline of civilization because they're not watching Hurt Locker" critic whines might have been a slight hint.)

As for why Crash won, "Unworthy", yes, "Unexplained", unfortunately, no--
LA's like the trendiness of anything that makes them artificially feel like they have a conscience...

Now, that said, would someone please explain what earthly force caused "Tom Jones" to win in 1963?

Quote:
- Annie Hall
- Silence of the Lambs- Never understood the love that was given to this movie.
- Shakespeare in Love- Enjoyed it, but I'm a sucker for costume dramas.
- Gladiator- solid action flick, but not Best Picture worthy.
- Crash- Shaking my head in wonder. Not a big fan of "we're all connected movies."
- The Departed
I agree on most of these.
