i'm looking to get a pioneer blu ray player, but i'm unsure which to get. at best buy right now, the 23fd is is $250, or i can get the bdp320 for a little cheaper than that. with the samsung plasma i have, i don't think i will notice much of a difference with pq between them. any input would be appreciated.

There is only one main difference between the 23fd and the 320. That's in the analog output of the player. The 320 uses one DAC for each of the left and right channels, including the surrounds and rear. The 23fd includes a Burr-Brown DAC for each channel separately. So, if you are planning on using the analog outputs, then the 23fd is the superior choice. If you plan on bitstreaming your audio output to the receiver, you should probably save some money and get the 320.
Hope that helps. |

Using HDMI to output video and sound, you'll probably be better off getting the 320. But if you can find a 23FD for $250, then I might jump on that as well. It gives you the opportunity to play a little more, like on the audio outputs, and see if one sounds better to you than the other. I like the audio output of the player, so that's how I have mine hooked up, sending audio out over the multi-channel output. It also allows you to change video characteristics, to see what is more pleasing to you. If I could have gotten my 23FD for $250, I would have been very happy. However, being in Canada, and specifically Calgary, there is only one store that carries Elite products. I still got a good deal, but not THAT good. ![]() |

Hey guys, just stumbled on this today. Thinking of buying a 2nd BR player for my 32" lcd in the bedroom, and was looking hard at the 320 Pio. I have a BD35 now, and planned to move it to the bedroom (do not figure the Pio has better PQ, but I expect the AQ is better).
Thanks for any input. I had considered the Samsung 3600, but their quality scares me sometimes. |

Enyone having doubts or esitant about this player don't. This is the real deal. Since Bluray been around I have tried almost all brand. And this is yet the best player on the market for it's price. I did get it at Best Buy Magnolia for $250. If they don't have it in stock it can be ordered from the warehouse and shipped to your door. This unit is everything bluray has to offer, from 7.1 codec to profile 2.0 to ethernet update. PQ is second to none, sound is excelent. This is one of the most flexible player to date. It is so good, make me want to buy another for the bedroom at this price.
