OK, so I had just placed my first ever order with Amazon.fr for three already released BDs that were in stock. I used standard delivery, which I assumed did not include package tracking, and I received a dispatch notice informing me that they were estimated to arrive on 26 March.
This morning I wake up to find an e-mail sitting in my inbox informing me that the items were undelivered and have been returned to Amazon.fr, and it seems I will be refunded. Now, I realize that, for whatever reason, EU Amazon sites often ship batch orders to the USA much quicker than a single item order, but I'm still upset that they obviously used a service that required me to be present to sign, and also delivered the item at least 4 days early (if that is exactly what happened); essentially, I'm still confused as to what happened with this order, and whether it even made it to a delivery truck in the USA or not. Is it feasible to contact Amazon.fr customer support? Do they have representative who can liaise with English-speaking customers, or not? And should I expect, whether standard or express delivered, that I will have to be present for a package delivery from Amazon.fr? How would that be possible without tracking information? |

I'm expecting an order from them this week. I can't remember if it's my first one with the Amazon.co.fr. All the orders I've placed with the Amazons in Great Britain and Germany have arrived via USPS. I haven't had to sign for anything yet.

Actually, if you go to their help page, there is a link in the middle of the page to get to the English Help Pages. What it sounds like, due to the speed of them recieving it back is a customs issue, or something with France's post, as its highly doubtful it arrived in the US, and already got back to them this quickly. As honeybunker said, all of their orders that I have placed have arrived via USPS, so if anything, I would just re-place the order once your refund shows up, but you never know, if you complain a little, they might even give you expedited delivery... good luck, and hope that helps.

wow, that's really strange.
I've ordered twice from amazon.fr, but I've never had a problem even though I always worry that they'll never make it. I mean that really sounds like some freak thing. are you sure they actually tried to deliver the items or did maybe they never get sent? was there a notice on the door? I mean if you can't sign, they would leave a note on the door, not just arbitrarily send them back to France. I doubt they ever left France. What sounds like happened is that they showed stock, but then realized they could not get stock. That happened to me only one time with an amazon UK order whereby they sent me an email telling me they couldn't get the item I had ordered until some far off date, even though the item showed "in stock" when I ordered it. they sometimes will show stock based on a distributor, and then it could happen that the distributor doesn't actually have the items, and the main site didn't get the update for some reason. I'm going to re-order tonight (don't want another Carlotta to slip away) this time with express shipping as it's only EUR 5,00 more for the three titles I'm ordering. That should come with a tracking number (UK expedited does). The bad news is that O+O is again showing only one copy left. Oh well. |
