Default Need some help with sound cutting out

Ok so I have an older Sony reciever. As long as I use DTS or 5.1 sound settings it work fine for the most part. However I have run into a problem watching blurays. I have a problem with the sound cutting in and out. Mainly with music sections, Like the bar scene in Constantine or the end credits of Underworld. The sound just turns on and off. When the sound starts to come back on the reciever says Unlocking on it and I get sound again. It is basically when there is steady sound of some sort. Again like with the scene where Constantine goes to hell. It does it with some movies but not all. Sunshine, the Underworld Trilogy, Etc

Is it just that it is an old reciever? like a year or 2 before bluray came out.

Which movies cause the problem--do they always have TrueHD, or DTS HDMA, or it doesn't matter?

How are you connecting the BD player to the AVR? I assume S/PDIF, not HDMI? And inside the BD player, how do you have the audio options set? Bitstream, not PCM, and Secondary audio--is it Off or On? (It should not matter, but just trying to eliminate differences between DVD and BD).

In fact, if you BD player supports re-encoding to DTS when Secondary audio is turned on, it would be good to compare it to see if it still drops out.

I had sound cut in and out on one of my game systems. It turned out to be a broken/cracked or maybe just dirty optical cable. Are you by chance using an optical cable for your audio, or is it HDMI?
