Default Frustrated! Need Help, Please.

I have been doing my home work, but still cannot seem to find what I want.

I have a Pany BD35 and a 52” Sanyo, so I am not looking for top of the line.

What I want to get is a 7.1 receiver, to upgrade to later, but will use it at 5.1 for now, I do not mind buying a speaker kit separate, but want to keep the total to around $500. I also want to make sure the HDMI is not pass through. I am looking for suggestions, maybe from Amazon or another reputable place (Not 3rd party).

Please help.

So to clarify..

You want a non HDMI passthrough AVR capable of 7.1, 5 speakers, and 1 subwoofer for $500 or less?

Speakers

Note that the receiver is Onkyo Factory Reconditioned but if you don't mind used the whole package is $530.00

I was reading on one of the Onkyo that it was a pass through, and also that that is not a good choice for sound.

I will clarify, I am willing to spend more the the recever and get cheaper speakers that I can upgrade later when I have the money. Right now I have no surround sound so (Almost) any speakers would be an upgrade)

you have this backwards. spend more on your speakers, they will last you a heck of a lot longer than a receiver...

That is not much of a budget, but you can get a decent setup.
These should be used for your fronts and rears.
Than add this as your Center channel

Your speakers now costed you $239.64

Receiver
Get this item, it will accept LPCM so on your blu-ray player you will go into the menu and for audio you will select PCM as the default for decoding.

The receiver will cost you $299, and it is the only receiver that is $299 that is worth purchasing.

Now you will need to save up a little an get a subwoofer, and I would personally suggest that on a budget you look at the Premier Acoustic PA-120 for about $230.

I would avoid getting a Polk sub, even though you can find them for $119, they are only worth $119, and you will soon be looking to upgrade from it. I would avoid the Acoustic Audio subs too, they aren't very reliable lately.

This will be the best sounding budget system you will find. You actually may not find that you need to upgrade these speakers right away, as you will find with the Polk 6750s or the Onkyo HTiB that were suggested. If anything you could move the front set to the rear and get the Jamo 605 towers as fronts, and you would have 7.1 with all the speaker being from the same class.

I'm not sure which one you were reading about but both units I posted earlier decode HD audio. I will say that I don't care for either speaker package much but it does fit the price point.

Thumbs up HTiB

As was mentioned before, I think your best choice right now is the Onkyo HT-S6200 system from Accessories4less ( http://www.accessories4less.com/make...e-Black/1.html ). The receiver is great, and the speakers are not bad, either. And, everything you need is right in the box. At this price ( $449 ), nothing else on the market even comes close ! I started out with the 6100. As money became available, I replaced the front speakers, then the subwoofer, the center speaker, and finally the surrounds. Believe me, you can't do better !!

^^^ Eff me... $449! Unfortunately it's sold out there but NewEgg has it for $520.

It really is as great as everyone says it is especially if you are on a budget.
