Default Explaining 3D Displays to "People"

A friend of mine came to check out the 3D Demo at Best Buy. The sales person was explaining how he needs the 3D TV, 3D Blu-ray player and 3D versions of the movies.

My friend came to me after Best Buy and asked me questions about them. Now I'm not the biggest "Know It All" kind of guy but I knew some stuff.

I told him that "yes" you would need the 3DTV or 3D ready TV but you won't need anything else. He was told that the PS3 won't be compatible and would need to go with the Samsung 3D Blu-ray player. I told him that the PS3 is upgradeable and is 3D ready just wait for the firmware update. Last thing the sales person said was that he would need 3D version of the film for it to work properly and asked me if it was true, I said that any movies out now can be in 3D as long as you have the 3D enabled player and TV, you don't need a 3D version of the film. He then said that sales person told that none of the movies now will play in 3D and future releases will be. I then told him that it was all BS.

There has to be an easier explanation to these things. >.<

I work and retail and the whole business is to upsell, but i don't do that I would usually tell people to do some homework if they don't feel too confident about the words that i was told. Geezzz...if retails are gonna sell these things atleast tell the people the truth or train these people.
