Default hand surgery

anyone ever have to have pins put in their fingers before?
due to being careless with a snow blower a month ago(yea i know dumb *** move on my part but whats done is done) i had reconstructive surgery on 2 fingers on my left hand last month. i had shattered the bones requiring pins on the ends of my fingers. it was excruciating pain for a week after surgery the pain meds don't kill all the pain. thankfully i weaned myself off the pain pills after only 4 days.
if you have had pins in my question is how painful was it when they were taken out?
im having mine out in about ten days and the surgeon says no numbing or anesthesia. ill be glad to have them out but im still nervous just the same. a few weeks after that the splint will come off then physical therapy for 12-14 wks. ill be glad to be able to legally drive again this staying at home all the time stuff is driving me nutS.

Sorry to hear about that! My mom had to have pins in her finger once when they fused the joint together. They did a surface numbing and she was fine. I am surprised that your Dr. Is not going to atleast numb the area.

Yeah I'm surprised they won't give you a local, that doesn't sound too fun.

thanks, im guessing its because its on the ends of the fingers? the surgeon told me right before surgery that when the nerve medication wore off,the pain would be bad even with the strongest prescription of Oxycodone. he was right too. he also said the pin removal wasn't too bad. im prob going to pop a pain pill about 30 minutes before but i hate how they knock the wind out of you. i could post some pics but i don't wanna gross anyone out.
