Default Hows this Panny setup look?

Okay so I'm moving into a new house and we are going to have a smaller TV. Now we have a 50 inch Panasonic Viera Plasma TV and a Panny Blu player and an old Onkyo reciever and cd player. We plan on selling it all for 1500-2000. In the new house I've found these two as good matches.

Audio/Player: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-e...00000000005702

TV: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Panasoni...&skuId=9239228

My only question is: Is that everything I need? Do I not need to buy a receiver or will the HTS suffice? Also, I'm curious what player comes with the HTS, looks like the BD-60 I have know but I can't tell.

Do you really need to sell it all?

Well..yeah. Our current 5.1 setup is connected through the walls with the exception of the subwoofer and the central speaker. Our receiver is from 2001, our new Panny blu player plays CD's so we don't need the CD Player. Not to mention we have limited space for all these things at the new house. Currently all the players and receivers were inside cabinets built above the TV but the house we are moving to is smaller and we are going to have a smaller area for the TV and very little space for additional receivers, cd players, etc. Plus we are making a profit by moving out, the new house is much smaller because now there are only 3 in our household and its much cheaper so we are making a decent profit, especially if we can sell all this excess.

Oh and I really want something like Viera link because I hate dealing with multiple remotes or dishing out cash for a universal remote, like we did with our current setup, which we are selling as well.

Why don't you wait until after you move to sell everything? Try the old equipment in the new house first. It may fit to your liking. The HTS looks like a step down from what you have now.

I have one of those dressers that are fit specifically for TV's, its at my current house now, we just don't use it for anything but it will fit nicely at the new house. The receiver, CD player, and the TV simply won't fit, I've measured. We have to get a smaller TV. I don't need something that is amazing. I mean my old Onkyo only did 5.1 Dolby and DTS. No PCM or DolbyTrueHD or DTSHD, etc. So I'm thinking if anything this will still be a bit of a step up, but regardless I have to scrap our old audio system. The only thing I might keep is the BD-60 I have.

Well one of the main problems is the sheer size of receivers. It just won't fit well, HTiBs are nice to me only because they seem relatively small and compact. And simple for that matter. Also, what is something similar to Viera link, I really don't want to dish out money on universal remotes and I don't want more than one remote.

Viera Link will work with an Onkyo receiver that has HDMI. You turn it on from the settings menu on both the receiver and TV and then you can control the volume on the receiver from the Panasonic TV's volume up and down buttons, and when you power off the TV it powers off the receiver. Plus you can program the onkyo remote to work the Panasonic TV. I love it.

Plus as an employee of Best Buy, having heard that system multiple times, it's ok for an apartment or a dorm room, but it's not going to be enough power compared to what you are used to.

Could someone recommend me a good receiver and set of speakers, with ideally the rear speakers wireless.

iera Link is Panasonic's trade name for CEC. CEC stands for Consumer Electronics control and has been part of the HDMI spec since the beginning. Over time they have just added features to the system. Most things now are HDMI 1.3 so you will have all the newest features. I don't think 1.4 touched CEC.

I'm not really sure what you are asking. I thought you were already looking at that system from BB.

Anything most will suggest will fall into the too big for your cabinet category. Are you reverting to a standard setup versus an HTiB?

Please clarify.

I was just asking if there is a standard setup you guys would recommend instead of going the HTiB route, though I still doubt a receiver would even fit. Regardless, I'd like to look at alternatives to the HTiB.

Ideally keep it around 500-600 bucks for receiver and speakers.

Well, a new receiver won't be any smaller than the one you already have, so maybe keep the one you have and look for just new speakers.

Some really good starter speakers would be Polk, Klipsch, Energy, and Focal.

Would you consider purchasing speakers in groups? Such as fronts now, center later and then surrounds last?

Just trying to give you options. Not trying to be difficult.
