Lightbulb Will the PS3 offer Picture in Picture?

I know that the PS3 uses software to play Blu-ray movies, and you get timely updates to the software via internet download.

My question is, the upcoming Picture in Picture feature that was anounced with the new Disney Titles, will it work with the PS3 do you think?

I lean to Yes, as since it is probably a work of software to do it. But, you never know, there could be some kind of required hardware to get it to work properly.

Any thoughts?

There has been a lot of speculation with this, but the consensus so far is that the PS3 has enough horsepower to do the dual-decoding necessary with PIP via software that will be available through a firmware update. Of the players out there now that will support it, the PS3 is really the only hopeful, AFAIK.

Well i don't know.. but the first CELL demo where video decompression demo with 7 1080p PIP video playing and selectable to zoom in full screen.

So if we get it.. it will be before the first Disney movie for sure... and since the PS3 seem to be the biggest flock of BR player out there.. i'am pretty sure that Sony have that all figured out...

Well, if it is capable, we'll probably be seeing it in the next firmware update since october is right around the corner!

On the subject of PiP, I have a ps3 game called World Snooker Championship 2007, that I imported from the U.K., and it uses PiP during gameplay. So I'm pretty sure the ps3 is capable for blu-ray movies.

worst case scenario if your ps3 doesn't have the pic in pic feature, in time with the update you will have it.

I hope the PS3 does get PiP. I just want my BD player to be able to do all that BD can offer. Will I ever use it? At this time I don't really seeing myself useing it other then just to try it out. But who knows, it could be a feature that I would really enjoy.

I dont think this is excatly the same kind of tech used in PiP for BD playback.
