Default Add another fan to the Blu-ray camp

LoL! I got my friend to buy a blu ray player, granted I gave him 250 dollars err long term Loan, I got my friend who owns 3,000 DVD's all retail non-pirated to pick up his first blu ray player. He'll begin his blu ray collection soon I'm sure.

But I'm doing what any good friend should do for another friend and that's Support Blu!!!

I really want to buy my dad a PS3, but he says he will never play it! I have even offered to buy the console for him. At least my dad doesn't support HD-DVD.

Good job on the new blu supporter.

3,000 DVD's is crazy though, He has a room just for his DVD's. I never rent DVd's i just visit his library and then return them (No late Fee's ) Maybe this is the only reason why he's my friend, lol. No I'm just kidding he's a great guy, with a sick obsession with buying at least 4 DVD's every week. hehe

Yeah, 3000 is a lot. I hope he has a list so that he never buys the same movie. Did he get a player that upscales?

The guy has 3000 DVDs but needed a $250 loan to nudge him to buy a BD player? Interesting.

Yeah, he just moved and was really low on cash. He works at Best Buy, I don't know.. I think it's pretty typical of Best Buy Employees, no offence towards those guys and girls, but they almost all end up blowing their entire checks on something in that store.

Get one of those John Wayne movies on BD or The Battle Of The Bulge and let him watch it on your system. See if that's how good as he remember it to look like. Remember, you're the dealer here.

If I bought 3000 DVDs, I wouldn't be able to afford a Blu-ray player either.

I don't doubt for a second that the guy is sick and obsessed with buying DVD's like it's an obsession that's uncontrolable, however I will say that he is very knowledgable about movies, and one of those guys you'd want for trvia pursuit games, if you know what I mean.

But at the same time I think a year ago, you could have said the same thing about me and videogames.

Exactly, it's astonishing to see because it's clearly something you dont' see everyday ( I mean a best buy's movie selection in someone's home). But at the same time it's like there's no way you get around to watching them all, and you feel as if he's buying some DVD's without ever watching them. For instance if you bought every new release along with watching everyday television, there's almost no way you could get around to seeing it all, but I suppose they're on DVD so you can just hold it over and see it later, even if it is a month or a year down the road, lol.

Phil,

I've got both BLU & HD.....so I feel like those old Miller Lite commercials. The HD I got as a B-Day present and the BD I won at a company function.......So far I have 18 HD discs and 3 Blu-Ray........so I donjt know what the heck I'm doing..........

I'm in the same boat but I have 2 blu ray players one in my laptop as well as my Xbox 360 add on. Just stick to universal films on the 360, and only buy Universal films that are worth getting like the bourne series or Breach or stuff like that, Batman, Matrix, and maybe heros. But for the most part I enjoy Heros. But I'm not the avreage user. I spend alot of time at the office and on the road in differnt areas and cities. Watching films on my Laptop or hooking them up to an External Large LCD via HDMI/DVI connection. 2-3weeks ago my blu ray collection was 1 pirates. Today it's around 20. I don't know... Perhaps I bought the HD DVD player too early, but it seems like this to me. For HD DVD I'm like waiting for anything to show up and I feel like I'm settling for less. For instance the titles worth getting are under 5, definately under 10. With Blu Ray, it's endless, plus the future releases are endless as well, I mean as Blu You can only really smile looking at the upcoming titles. HD DVD is like this dark road where you don't know what's going to happen, and (Yes I know it could probably die witin the next year) But point being beyond Hero's I have no idea what's upcoming on HD DVD. And even Hero's isn't a huge title for me, afterall the episodes were all online.

Every HD User is going to be saying Bourne Ultimatum, and yeah that's cool but I mean C'mon it's always one title every 4 weeks. With Blu it's so much more. And seeing as how these guys in here are complaining about Fox being slow, it makes me laugh. If the blu ray users in here had an HD DVD player like me for about 6 month's and then switched you wouldn't be hearing any complaints what so ever, and everyone would be humble and loving about the whole thing, instead of spoiled and Greedy, LOL. You long term blu ray users are Spoiled! SPoiled I tell ya! No but Blu Ray is a real treat.

Yeah I saw it, but when something is released on both formats I'm going with blu for 3 reasons, one I have a laptop so i can play it on my PC or my Player, that's a huge bonus from my side of things. 2 Costs, is it just me or is blu ray chaper from Warner? (Dual DVD and HD DVD isn't cheap). 3) The ability to backup Blu Ray's onto 8 dollar blanks. That's a real treat for me.

I have a friend who has hundreds of VHS all over his apartment. He even had one or two of the store display shelves. He still has a bunch of laser discs and the player! Now he is converting over to DVD and slowly selling some VHS to make room and money.

My brother has a sick collection of books, dvd's, cd's etc. I'm ready to smack him upside his head if he doesn't stop.

I used to think DVD was the "be all and end all" of watching movies. Read my signature line to see how I feel about DVD now.
