Default Director Mick Garris leaning toward the Blu-ray camp

At this point, I only have DirecTV HD TiVo running through a five-year-old 58” Pioneer rear-projection set. I don’t yet have either HD DVD or Blu-ray. But I’m on the verge of getting a flat screen (hopefully LCD, for green issues, if they come at least that size) so that I can upgrade to 1080p quality.

And I’m leaning toward the Blu-ray camp for now. It seems to be winning the war (I was a Beta guy before VHS came out, and really want to wait and see what happens next).

Well, even though he's done mostly TV, he's still got more credibility than Michael Bay

Michael Bay is one of the most successful directors out there right now, Mick Garris isn't even in his same league. If you're annoyed about Paramount and Transformers that's fine but don't make it seem like Michael Bay isn't a successful guy, he's very good at what he does. Bay never bashed Blu-Ray, all he said was that in the end both formats are great, which is accurate.

Successful, yes....good, NO! He's an MTV-inspired hack. When "Entourage" makes fun of you, you know you stink!

Yeah, dont blame Bay, blame Paramount. Bay obviously likes Blu. Unfortunately, his rant happeend AFTER the Paramount deal was done. He said he loved Blu, and Paramount probnably faxed him a copy of his contract for the TF movies and said "Hey, dont badmouth Paramount and HDDVD or else we'll sue you for breach of contract!"

Speaking of Mick Garris, it seems the Masters of Horror series is at an end and is now going to be produced by Lionsgate instead of Starz. It will no longer be on Showtime, but network TV and the name has been changed to Fear Itself, or something like that. At least they will still probably show up on Blu-ray and according to Garris probably unedited versions they weren't allowed to show on TV. Looks like the directors they want to get are people who have worked for Lionsgate before, Rob Zombie, Eli Roth etc.

A number of Bays films have been released on BD, The Rock for example. I wonder if anyone has sent him a copy
