My brother is having a problem with his PS3. It stopped during a game and now it won't read the any discs PS3 game, PS2 game or Bluray. He is out of state so I can't take a look at it. I have look through the forums (I might not be using the right search words) and was unable to locate anything on a "PS3 disc error". Any experienced advice with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Also if I have to send it back to Sony, which I can already see as a pain what would be a round about time frame I would be looking at to get it back? Thanks for any help in advance. |

I would unplug the PS3 from the power outlet and wait 1 minute. Then plug it back in and turn the PS3 on. Make sure your discs are not excessively scratched or dirty and try putting one in again. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. He tried a few thing he said. I'll have him try that. He is very careful with his disc. Everything else works.. the hard drive is working fine. He can play DL content. I think if there is a big problem it has to do with the lazer. I hope if he leaves it off and unpluged for a while it will start working again.

I shipped my first broken PS3 to Sony before. They shipped me an New PS3 in 2 days.. lets say I ship in Day 1 and then in Day 3, my new PS3 is standing at the door from delivery (UPS) and this is what satisfied me when it was an quick business. So, just pick up the phone and call Sony and they should help you with everything as quick as they can. Good Luck!!

when i had trouble w/ my ps3 and called sony, they told me they were going to send me a refurb'd one. if you call sony, make sure they send you a brand new one, not a refurb'd. i told sony to go screw themselves as i didn't stand in line for 72 hours for a freaking refurb'd.

Sony should provide brand new units under warranty. Period. Sony should sell refurbs at a discount at Sonystyle. That's just my .02. |

Nothing seemed to work so he going to send it back to Sony. I told him all the comment I received on this thread. He said and I agree he should not have to settle for a refurbished PS3. While refurbished machines are not always bad, the whole point of getting refurbished is the price is lower than a new item. I bought this PS3 new for him and I want him to have a new one.
Thanks again for the help |
