Default Panny BD35 not reading any disc

I bought this unit when it first came out and have the most current firmware. Today I wanted to pop in a Blu ray disc and the player will not play most of my discs, except for a select few. It will play a standard DVD. Can the lens be dirty and in need of a cleaning? Is the player going out? Does it need to be serviced? For this to happen after a year and usage every other couple of days does not speak well for Panasonic. Can anyone recommend anything to try? Please help ASAP.

Chris

Sorry to hear about your issues. First, DO NOT use a regulare DVD lens cleaner on your BD player. If you are really inclined to try that buy a lense cleaner specifically for BD player lenses.

Sometimes simple solutions are the ones that work. First, try giving your player a little bit of liberty, err... time off. Unplug the unit and leave it that way for a few minutes.

Amother thing to try is reinstalling the firmware. Oftem times this solves the issue.

Keep us informed...

I'm having the same problem with my Samsung BD-P1590. We just bought it 10 days ago and have watched three Blu-ray Discs on it. As of last night, it will only play DVD's. It informs us that "This disc can not be played" and ejects every Blu-ray (including the three that we have already successfully watched on it).

His situation is a little different; whereas yours will not play ANY Bd, his is hit or miss.

Turn off BD-Live and see if the issue still occurs.
