Default Will there ever be a profitable market for my Mobile Fidelity collection???

A while back, I got on this kick (OK, OBSESSION ) of buying out of print MoFi discs. I can't believe I did this as I wasn't making great money at the time, but I got 'em anyway. Well, I amassed quite the collection and was recently thinking about them the other day. At this point, a lot of these discs either have had recent remasters done of them or have an SACD counterpart available that may sound better. I know it's not always about the sound when it comes to "collector's items" such as these but I'm beginning to wonder, will I ever see the day where there will be a market for these things to where I can unload them and retire???

Retire? Naw, but you should be able to unload them for a good buck that's for sure. What format are you speaking of by the way? Vinyl, CD, SACD?

I was being facetious. Well, specifically talking about gold CDs, but I do have a copy of the only SACD that MoFi pressed right before their doors closed, "Blues In Orbit." I've seen this one fetch a hefty price on eBay in the past:

Depends on the title. I would say most MFSL Gold CDs sell in the $25.00 - $50.00 range. There are very few that sell for over $100.00 but Blues in Orbit is one of them.

Problem is, they were like $25 when they were released and I paid probably around $40 on average for them when I bought them years ago. Amazing how damn good they still sound though.

Two years ago I sold my (used) MFSL & DCC disks (about 25 of them), some Ultradiscs (MCA's - maybe 5 or 6) & a few extra DVD-Audio's & SACD's (about 15 Hi Rez). They got me this (Toshiba) Lap Top, a second blu-ray player (I later sold the PS3), a nice all in one printer, a few blu's & a nice long weekend in Ottawa. I bought all of them 'brand new' from $20 to $35. First printing of DSOTM (MFSL) & Beach Boys All Summer Long (DCC) brought in over $100 each while most of the others (cds) varied around $25 to $75 Except for one Ultradisk (Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful World) they were all classic rock. It scarred me when some of these discs were coming out on Hi Rez so I figured I better get rid of them while I can. In most cases, these are worth more than the Hi Rez counterparts but not the LP's. I think that you should be able to make at least your money back as long as the cd is the prominent form for purchasing & playing music. Retire on - no
