Dear Moderators,
I have often witnessed attempts, from self-appointed dictators, to bash another member simply for starting a duplicate thread. These thread Nazis love to make themselves feel superior by demeaning the member for not searching adequately for a thread that has already been started on the subject. Some of us don't have time to sit in front of a monitor and beat off to Summer Glau pics, let alone look thru an extensive search. It might help if members didn't have to search thru 20+ pages of search results that brings up every sentence the search word appears in. Can members, please, get another search option for Thread Title to narrow down the search? We need to stop the delusional thread authority before high blood pressure, heart attacks, and vigilantes be come a problem here. Thank you for your time! |

Do you have any idea how many times this issue came up?
![]() ![]() Suggestion would be to search for the title the same way you do, check the 1st five pages and if you don't find the thread that you are looking for then its either it doesn't exist or its buried deeper. Just start your thread and if you find out that another exists then report it to have it merged. But I agree, the search engine is hassle to deal with and if it improves it would make things easier. ![]() |

The option you refer to is available. Under "Search" click "Advanced Search". On the " Search Forums" screen you will see the option for "Search by Keyword" (top left of the screen), from the drop down list select "Search Titles Only".

Just a note, on the Advanced search page you can click "save my settings" so that every time you search it's already searching for titles.
I have it set up that way, the only thing I have to change each time is which specific forum I want to search in (Movies for example). The more seasoned members that use this feature and can report dup threads through the report post option, instead of posting in the thread itself belittling the OP, the better. After a thread starter looks for his thread and realizes it's been merged for the fifth time, hopefully they'll get the message and start searching on their own. ![]() |
