I have a Fat 80GB version, with the 4 ports in front. Though I have no BR titles, I will be picking up Avatar before the end of the week... and then wondered something.
I've been told that the Fat versions of the PS3's are BR players whereby the Slim versions are not. I was under the impression that they both play BR disks. Am I missing something, or is there some technicality that gives reason for this statement? I don't care about technicalities as long as my PS3 plays BR disks. Thanks in advance, SuD |

some of these claims are crazy... there is no performance difference between either models. The slim plays blus just as effectively, with the added hardware ability of bitstreaming HD audio to the receiver. It is definitely not an inferior bluray player...

I have no confidence issues on whether one will play BR versus the other. I was just trying to see if someone could clairify the comment. I am trying to find the comment or post where I read about the comparison and the statement that had me thinking. To me, mine is a BR player that plays games too. That's the concept I used to sell my wife on the idea of getting a PS3 in the first place. Buying it used for $75 was the way I really got away with it, but now that she's addcited to LBP, I guess that it's a game console that will be playing bluray by the end of the week. Thanks for the input folks. I was just hoping that someone saw the same post I did that made comment about some technicality between the two. SuD Last edited by standupdad; 04-21-2010 at 07:06 PM. |
