Default How Do you save and play PS1 games on PS3's?

It says I need a memory card and I couldn't find any PS3 games in store.
I bought some classic (All 3) PS1 South Park games on Ebay to play on my PS3.

Every game says I have to save with a memory card which I don't have and can't find in stores... Is there a way to save with my hard drive?
Also all, but one of my games is Analog Stick compatible.
Yet..... the analog sticks won't work with the games? It only works with the D Pads.
Does this happen with all PS3 Systems/Controllers?

I actually have an old PS1 system that just plugs into the wall and works, but I can't find a new memory card for under $60?

You have to create a PS1 memory card on the PS3's hard drive to save PS1 game data. Shouldn't be too hard once you scroll over to the PS1 part of the PS3 OS.

After you make your virtual ps1 memory card, don't forget to set it to slot one. I made that mistake a few times when I first got my ps3.

Ok thank you both so much!
Any ideas why it only works with the D Pads and not the Analog Sticks even though the games say it can work with it?

It doesn't exist. All PS3 systems can play PSX games.

Anyway, as long as the virtual card has been created, you can reassign its slot designation whenever you want. In-game, you would just hold the PS button to bring up the Impose screen, and you'll be able to change it from there.

I will have to try when I get home as I have been wanting to play Symphony of the Night. Is it easy to figure out how to make the PS1 memory card? Got Em!!

all PS3's play all ps1 games. It's the ps2 games that are in question unless you have the original 60gig or 80gig models.

as for making a memory card it isn't that bad. I believe (at work so can't check) in the game tab of the XML above trophies there should be an icon for memory cards. go into that and the options to both make a card and assign it to slot 1 or slot 2 will be there. once it's made you can save ps1 games like normal. I made a few and ported over all my original ps1 saves off of actual memory cards, because a friend had the convert cord.

hope that helps.

I've never been able to get the PS3's analog sticks to work with PSX games, they're probably not compatible with the software.

I'm not in front of my ps3 atm, but IIRC, when you start the ps1 game, you hit the PS Button. Analog/Digital Controller setting should among the options.

Though some ps1 games flat out don't support both I think. I remember not being able to use the sticks on some ps1 games. Though more "modern" games like RE3 did allow it.

Press an hold the PS button while in the PS1 game. You'll have a whole bunch of options to simulate PS1 controller specs. Change the controller style from Digital to Analog or whatever and it should work.

This is what you will need http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3-...2057239&sr=8-1 Works for PS2(if have a PS2 backwards compatible PS3) as well as PS1.

Can transfer the save files from card to PS3 or vice-versa.

They sell converters you can plug into the PS3 through the PS3's HDMi cable but only if your PS3 is PS2 backwards compatible or bc-emulator.

Same, haven't played any of the SNES/PSX RPGs I own since last year, may have to fire up one of them soon and give it a shot.

Not all PSX games support analog control; most actually don't, since the analog stick control scheme and dual analog controller didn't come out until near the end of the PSX's life cycle.

Like Septimus said, only games that support the analog stick will work.
