Default PS3's HDMI has built-in lag on PS1/PS2 games?

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=8996637

^^ Anyone want to try and take a crack at this?

I can't say it would surprise me, since the PS3 forces a 480p situation on everything that's not an HD game.

If it's there, I certainly can't perceive it myself in any "real world" useage.

If this can be fixed with firmware updates, then it won't be a problem.

But for the first year, I'll be using component outputs first. Then HDMI cable for the year after and succeeding years.

But what I would want to see is if HDMI ver 1.3 can fix the motion problems of older resolutions for future displays. (and probably support for 480i)

That's what I want to know.

EDIT:
However, if THERE IS LAG and you can't notice it (or just have normal vision), this may not be a problem.

If your eyes can't see it, then your lucky.

But on another note, generally HDTVs usually don't do that well when going down to 480i resolutions. Hopefully, Sony should release firmware updates to improve its deinterlacing abilities.
