I'm a Panasonic fan.. I have two of their commercial Plasma's. Both 42inch, both picture perfect.
While shopping, I noticed a 50" TC-P50C2 for $799 and an even better deal at another major retailer. TC-50PX24 for $689... So ok these are only 720P ... But does it matter? One of my Plasma's is commerical Panasonic EDTV and guess what, it is easily as good as the 720P and in someways better.., so good is the set's upscaler. Hence always being a fan of Panasonic.. So i've taken great interest of these new 50"... The extra size would be nice. My EDTV is over 5yrs old now and unfortunately my little one put a scratch in the glass. So time to change.. For this price, is it too good to be true? What's the catch? Anyone familar with the quality of the commercial Panasonics and able to compare to how well these much newer generation's in-expensive sets would compare? Opinions please. to me i say it all depends on your liking some people really like the feeling have having 1080p than 720p. The contrast ration on this set is great 2,000,000 to 1 and also the 600hz but i heard on this plasma the greens are more like neon and the setting are limited like theirs no way to set color temperature so its really up to you

I'm probably weighing towards the PX2 since it has the Anti Reflective coating. The thing about the Panny's i love, it's able to maintain resolution during movement, which i've always found LCD's and less expensive Plasma's to struggle with. So hopefully this newly touted 600hz sub-field works nicely, though i'll be honest with my existing sets, i can't really see on how they can improve on it already? AND this is from 5yrs ago, so this new current gen, one would hope, will at least match the old commercial panny's of 5yrs ago. I'm really not into the 120mhz fluid motion that a lot of these LCD's market themselves over now. Doesn't look right and not how the director intended. So avoiding those like the plaque. I'm sticking with Panasonic thank you very much. |
