Contemplating the purchase of a panny 50 or 58 inch Viera. My question is...I keep reading about how...when a movie is in 24p mode that the Panasonic Viera's will switch to 48-hz to match cadence and get "juttery" which I assume is some sort of continuous distortion that is viewable.
Has firmware solved this problem or ? I'm not clear on the whole 24p issue. If I have a blu-ray movie that is in 24p mode (are most of them?) will it look goofy on this TV? I don't want to spend $2k on a TV that my movies will look goofy on. |

I got my Panasonic TH58PZ800U in last month and I love it.
Yeah, I wondered about this too. But I have turned this setting on and I don't see why people are complaining about the TV vibrating. I see none at all. My neighbor came over and I showed it to him and asked if he saw any vibration, and he also said none. He thought it looked great. If you happen to be one of the people who are bothered by this setting, you can always just turn it off. These are great TVs and I used to own an SXRD (also a great TV). I can see many ways that the plasma picture is way better. I notice certain things every day, whether I watch a movie, regular television or play a game. The color, contrast and blacks are all so much better. Sometimes it's shocking, and I'm now used to it after a month. |

the pz800 and pz850 both have the option to view 24fps content at 60hz or 48hz. if you use 48hz the uneven judder caused by 3:2 pulldown is eliminated, but it increases visible judder. if you use 60hz the uneven judder will persist, which means the judder will look identical to the judder you've watched for the past 11 years on DVD and the past 2 years on blu-ray. i have the pz800 and i use 60hz, but 48hz does have a more "film-like" look to it.
