Question Problem with Panasonic V10

It is a relatively minor problem but sometimes I hear a buzzing sound coming from the back of the tv. If the sound is up it is not that noticeable. Just wondering if anything could be done to solve the problem.

Plasmas tend to buzz a bit. Some are louder than others, but most sets will have a relatively low buzz. Both of my plasmas have a faint buzz, but I only hear it when I'm real close and have no music or movies playing. Some LCD's will do this too. Its nothing to worry about unless it gets loud. If its pretty audible across the room then you may want to take it back and exchange it for another. From what I understand the buzz has something to do with the power supply, and if the buzz is loud then you probably have a defective set. If its faint don't worry about it because that's normal.

Question

It comes and goes. Haven't had the problem since August. Seemed to go away on its own. Started up again last night. What is the cause of it?

I just bought a Panny V10 50 inch and there's no buzzing at this time for me. The only noise I hear are the fans and ONLY when the audio coming from the receiver is off AND I'm really paying attention to it. Could you be hearing the fans? I heard Samsung's can buzz, but nothing on the Panny V10's though.

All plasmas buzz. My Panny and my Kuro both do, but like I said its a very low buzz. My Panny is a little louder than the Kuro, but still pretty low. In both cases you have to be right up on the sets to hear it, and even then I have to have complete silence to hear it. Its something to do with the power supplies on these things. The wiring in one's home can contribute to how loud the buzz will be from what I've read. Its something to do with having sufficient grounding. Try plugging the set up in a different receptacle on a different line in the house and see if you still get the buzz. I noticed that my Panny's buzz got a little louder when I moved it into the bedroom.

I've heard that helps a lot. I have a better surge protector in my living room than in the bedroom and I think that may be part of the reason my Panny is louder in there than it was in the living room. Like I said though its still relatively low. From what I've read over on avsforum a lot of the new Samsung plasmas have an unusually loud buzz which may be attributed to a lesser quality power supply than what other manufacturers use. I've seen posts where people have exchanged their Sammy several times until they got one that didn't buzz loudly. The wiring in a home can also be the problem. I had an LCD that buzzed too. I sold it to my friend upstairs and I haven't heard the buzz in his apartment at all.

Question

I am currently using an APC C10 surge protector. It doesn't buzz all the time. It did it for the first time in two months a couple of days ago. It sounded like a loud electric razor. But now it's not buzzing at all. Just want to know what may be the possible cause as to why it is an intermittent problem.

Yeah, if it sounds like an electric razor then its defective. The typical buzz should be very low and barely noticeable if at all. It should never get that loud. Definitely get it checked out.

Hey Daak,

I have the exact same problem. I got my V10 about a month ago and have noticed a buzzing sound (sometimes very loud) coming from the upper-back area of the casing. I have the tv speakers disabled as I have a receiver and the buzzing sound doesn't come through the receiver at all. The sound seems to occur randomly and last for different lengths of time. The first time I noticed it was when I was using the internet browser on my PS3. The pitch of the buzzing sound would change when I switched from normal view to full screen view.

All of my components are hooked up via HDMI with a single digital audio cable going to my receiver. Tonight I was watching FIOS on my STB and the buzzing sound started in. I've looked on various forums and tried different things the most extreme being yanking the grounding prong off of my PS3 power cable.

If you find an answer please let me know.

Thanks,
Kevin

it get no buzzing from my 54v10 or my old 700u either.
added a H15 for extra protection. but since i had no buzz...i couldn't say it took it away. the H15 just went in seamlessly....i didn't notice any performance in picture or sound as people say they have.

maybe for those that have dirty power or low voltage...but my house is very consistant.

Both my G10 and Dell plasmas have slight buzzes to them. Not noticeable unless receiver is on mute. Both of my old Samsung LCD's would buzz as well if the back light was on anything but max, I even had Samsung send a tech out and they replaced EVERYTHING except the screen, 0 change. The plasmas only buzz if there is something on the screen, if it's a black screen I hear nothing, the lighter the screen the greater the buzz. Some people can't hear stuff like this some are super sensitive to it, like me

Default Also got the buzz...brother

Bought a Panny P50V10A ~ 3 months ago.
Notices a random buzz.
came to conclude that 1) it was inconsistent - ie not there all the time - every day
2) was annoying
3) seemed to vary in pitch depending on how much white was presented on the screen.
Doing a few experiments to better assist the panasonic techs I also concluded the following:
Was NOT necessarily time related - ie TV on for a long time - components heat up then buzz.
When buzzing - I could then play stuff via the [non panny] blu ray player or [yes panny] blu ray pvr and the buzz was still there.

Contacted Panasonic Aust Cust support who confirmed that the TV may buzz, it may be incosistent, they dont consider this as a problem & that I should buy sound dampening tiles to place behind the TV to minimise what I hear.
I have tried dampening the sound - no luck.

Today I got really annoyed with this & am venting a little but will try Panasonic Aus again to see if they can fix &/or replace the TV with one that is OK.

BTW - I've been a Quality / Warranty/ Reliability Manager of companies that supply elec components, and while I understand it may be $$$costly to repair I think Panasonic should admit to the fault & do good with legitimate support & repairs.

I have 3 plasmas and I don't get buzzing from them. Although, I have them connected to power conditioners. Maybe that's the trick

Hey guys here is how I fixed my Panny TH-58PZ800U.

This will void your warranty. Please try at your own risk and use the assistance of a pro.
