Nope, I think it would be a pain in the ass though, with all the piggish people who attend cinemas now adays.

I've thought about it. You are talking about General Manager because there is more than 1 manager in a theater. Don't know where you live but nobody makes that much. GM makes around 28K-32K a year.

I think the thing would be to own your own theater.

Baby steps my friend, baby steps. I just spent 20 years in the restaurant biz, great money but not worth the stress!!

The Gm told me that they get their movies downloaded to them now.

I was a floor supervisor at a now defunct Multiplex a while back, while not being a true manager, I could do pretty much anything the managers did with a few small exceptions. So I was basically a manager, just did'nt "manager pay". Had great hours too, 9-5 Mon-Fri, ALL WEEKENDS OFF!!!

I'm head assistant manager at a theater. Been there 4 years now. Great job as far as the amount of work and can be fun at times. Some of the customers suck and the pay sucks though.

I often think it'd be fun to own a theater that showed classic movies every week.

But I don't think it's be profitable (and I have no idea how you'd manage to get prints of classic movies, unless you have some sort of connections, and are near LA).

Maybe Blu-ray on a projector would be nice, if it was a small enough theater... and if the police stayed away.

blu ray looks tantastic in large theatres, most 2k digital files are compressed anyway in cinemas from what I understand.

One of our sister theaters does classic movies on Monday night. They use a small digital projector and a blu ray player. The licence cost the same as a 35MM print does. Around 300 bucks or so for the week.

Attending Grad school. Trying to be a Corp. Lawyer. I heavily advice you not to do a theatre management and or own it as a business right now.

Its nothing but a headache right now.
