Default Ok, here you go. 3D without.........

.........glasses!
Japanese have come up with 3D tvs that need no glasses. Remains to be seen how good they are, I guess.

There is something about 3D that just seems TOO engaging. I would never feel like casually flipping through the channels for some easy watching. Maybe some of these televisions have a setting to turn 3D off which makes this comment moot. If I had no choice but to watch 3D for everything I think I might go crazy.

Just a random question, would anyone be willing to sacrifice the 3d quality to not wear glasses?

The only time I would activate the 3D function is while watching movies. I could stand wearing glasses during this time considering I don't watch movies that often.

The problem with glasses free 3dtv is that they have a small number of sweet spots where you need to stay standing/sitting at in order to see the
3d effect. If you move your head, lay on the couch, reach for your beverage of choice, that position change will affect the 3d image.

It will take a few years before we have glasses free 3d tvs with little to no viewing angle drop off.

And as soon as you buy that, 4-D TVs will come out a couple years later.

This is what we all really want, get rid of those stupid glasses and we'll start considering buying into home 3D.

Because theoretically there should be no need for glasses, technology today should allow for the glass on a TV to project the left and right images directly without the need for glasses. 3D will not be foolproof until like 2013/14 keep in mind what we are seeing for TV in the states now Japan has had for years just wait until UHDTV comes out, double the res of what we have now. The problem is most carries in the states are operated separately and no company wants to do the necessary upgrades for the required bandwidth. The biggest difference between States and Japan is the government owns the lines and the companies lease them. This tech is very rapidly changing, think of how fast PCs went from P2 to P4 and then stalled what were seeing now is going to be similar to that in the next 4 years a lot is going to change.
