Default 'Terminator: Special Edition' coming later this year

From the 2/3 entry from Digital Bits....

Quote:
Speaking of The Terminator, consider this Rumor Mill worthy, but our industry sources have confirmed to us once again that we're likely to see a new Terminator: Special Edition arrive on Blu-ray this year, possibly tied to the release of James Cameron's Avatar.

If true, then let's hope they do an SE of T3 too.

I'm hoping for a Skynet Edition SteelBook to complete the series.

Not surprising, considering the scuttlebutt had been that Cameron needed the time to approve a new transfer of it.

I will only be purchasing it if a copious amount of extra features are on it and the original mono soundtrack is included in lossless fidelity.

I'm guessing this is the Lowry remaster? Can't wait to see it, some have speculated it'll be a very minor upgrade but I'm optimistic

Finally, T1 gets the attention it deserves. Hopefully T3 is also in this thing, I love that shit.

I was fine with the video quality of T1. Very low budget flick, and they didn't ruin it with digital tampering or whatever. But if they can make it look a little better, I'm certainly not going to argue.

The soundtrack however is a bigger issue. It wasn't just that they didn't include the original mono - it was that the new soundtrack had replaced sound effects that were completely different from the original. If they can fix THAT, then I'll be happy.

I also noticed this when I watched my copy. Pretty sorry of them to do that I thought. If they fix this and improve the VQ somewhat I'll double dip this one.

And I hope they'll also re-release T3 with lossless audio.

I've never thought the PQ was as bad as some make it out to be. But if they are able to improve upon it then I'm all for it. Hoping they also include the mono track.

Same here. I don't own Terminator yet, so if this is a legit Special Edition, then I'll happily finally buy the movie.

Agreed. No real complaints but there is always room for improvement.

Let's hope they put more effort in this time instead of some "Lenticular Cover."

This special edition had damn well better have the original mono soundtrack as an option. I'd love it to be lossless, but I'd take a lossy one at this point.

Original mono + supplements and I'll buy. Any picture improvements are gravy, but welcome.

I'll pick this up if the picture is a bit better than the regular T1 BD release & has special features. I already own the original release on BD but will glady triple dip on this (Yes I own the lenticular Special Edition DVD). :-D
