What movies on blu-ray do you think have the best and worst cover art?
Here are my best ![]() Where the Wild Things Are The Man from Earth Close Encounters of the Third Kind Fargo District 9 There Will Be Blood (Both sides) Worst ![]() Full Metal Jacket (Deluxe Edition) Minority Report The Robe Cast Away Office Space (Misleading. It actually doesn't come with any pieces of flair.) |

Hm. That's a good question.
For best cover artwork from my current collection, I'll have to go with: 1) Stargate 15th Anniversary Edition 2) Green Zone (Canadian edition) 3) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (Target exclusive) 4) Monsters, Inc. 5) Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World 6) The Orphanage (US edition) 7) Poltergeist Digibook 8) Ponyo As for worst, I really can't think of any at the moment because I don't own any Blu-ray Disc movies with ugly cover-art artwork. ![]() I need to add Donnie Darko [1] to my collection because the cover artwork looks amazing. I'll just go with naming the Worst:
Star Trek (2009) canadian billingual packaging. What gives. It's just a picture of kirk on one side and spock on the other side. Even the slipcover is lame. It's too bad considering how great the movie and blu-ray is. Front: ![]() Back: ![]() Brutal. I mean nice portraits and all but I'd rather have a traditional cover saying what the movie is and the spcs of it on the back, not some cheap external paper they put and just dangles there. People are probably judging the actual cover art and not the slipcover. I agree that the cover sucks, but the lenticular slipcover is nicely done and saves the slipcover at least.

Best: Anything that uses the original poster art. I also like it when they get really creative and do something like they did to Zodiac. Best slipcover has got to be Moon. I dig that optical illusion.
Worst: Anything that misrepresents what the movie is. The 1966 Batman comes to mind. The movie itself is gloriously campy, yet the cover suggests that the movie is darker like Nolan's films. |
