ABC's 'Edgar Floats' Alive With Script Order

Damn, it's definitely living up to it's name already, lol. This is one of ABC's projects I was most excited for only to not hear about a pickup. I thought it was dead. I really like Tom Kavanaugh so I'm hoping this project does come to fruition, and obviously they are really interested since they just ordered more scripts. Tom as another quirky character named Ed, come on guys, you know you're onboard.

ABC’s drama pilot Edgar Floats is living up to its name, staying afloat despite missing the cut for a series order from the network this week. ABC has ordered six additional scripts from the project, from Warner Bros. TV and writer Rand Ravich. Edgar Floats stars Tom Cavanagh as a police psychologist who becomes a bounty hunter. Both Ravich’s script and the pilot directed by Jace Alexander received good marks but some suggested Edgar might be too quirky and character driven for broadcast and feels more like a cable series. There were even some rumblings that the pilot could be taken to USA Network if ABC passes. That, of course, is out of the question for now because ABC appears to be still very interested in the show.

I'm on board for anything from Rand Ravich. I thought that Life was one of the best shows of the last few years.

Life is one of my favorite shows of the past 10 years. Definitely in my top 5. Rand and Tom, this should be good. I'm just very happy that atleast one of the many pilots I really wanted to get picked up, but didn't is getting a second chance. But who knows it could still go to cable where it's more on brand than ABC.

ABC's 'Edgar Floats' gets major overhaul

There’s retooling a pilot, and then there’s gutting a pilot. ABC and Warner Bros. are choosing to do the latter with Edgar Floats, the highly touted character-driven procedural from Life creator Rand Ravich and starring Tom Cavanagh.

Although reps for ABC and Warner Bros. declined comment, sources confirm that the network and studio have jointly decided to part ways with nearly the entire cast, including Cavanagh and costars Alicia Witt, Derek Webster, Alex Solowitz, and Raoul Trujillo. That leaves Robert Patrick as the only Edgar thesp still attached to the show.

An insider close to Edgar says the pilot, which recently received a six-episode script order from ABC, is being completely reconceived. I’ll take Understatements of the Century for $500, Alex!
