Default I need a radar detector .. Escort/passpot 9500 ix, Or Valentine 1 .?

Im sick of the lame ass unmarked sneaky state Troopers who pull me over for going 5 mph over the speed limit.. And I dont like to drive slow, so thats not an option..

So that said.. WHat do you guys think? Anyone have either of them , or any other suggestions?

I have a V1 and the 9500Ci (built in). Both are great...do you know if they use Radar or Laser more? I find they use Laser here a lot more, so i went with a Blinder as well which is a Laser Jammer. The V1 is great, and will probably give you the most distance for a warning on radar, but if they laser you, it is instant, and you are screwed...unless yo have a jammer, which shoots a few lasers back and then they get an Error code...you slow down and the Jammer shuts off...then they shoot you again and you are legal...

Radar jammers (also called "active radar scramblers") are illegal to SELL or USE in every U.S. state, all of Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, as well as most other countries.

Jammers are definitely not legal in Minnesota, from the official state Office of Revisor of Statutes:
Subd. 12. Radar jammer. For purposes of this section, "radar jammer" means any instrument, device, or equipment designed or intended for use with a vehicle or otherwise to jam
or interfere in any manner with a speed-measuring device operated by a peace officer.
No person shall sell, offer for sale, use, or possess any radar jammer in this state.

It's not even that. I speed. But if I get caught I know it's my own fault for speeding.

Complaining about the cops stopping your for doing something wrong seems pointless to me. Especially when you admit to wrong doing.

Get the Valentine! I currently have the Escort 8500 and I wish I paid extra for the Valentine when I was looking for a radar detector. My Escort wants to work when it feels like it.

People speed, whether inadvertently or intentionally. The poster admits to the latter, and he's seeking a recommendation on a radar detector, which he's entitled to. I believe he's well aware of the ramifications of his behaviour, so lecturing him on the subject is purposeless; also, the subject of speeding has been discussed ad infinitum and ad nauseum in prior threads, and it's highly unlikely that anyone will change their outlook on the subject based on what others have said. If he wants to criticize the 5-0 while seeking advice on a radar detector, why shouldn't he?

I'm considering the purchase of a radar detector myself, so I'm looking for anecdotal input as well. Feel free to resurrect one of the past threads in the Automotive forum to discuss the subject of speeding, but let's not clutter this thread with comments admonishing the poster's actions.

It's better to respect law enforcement. Their jobs are hard and they get little to no recognition for their work.

If you ever get pulled over, I've found it's better to NOT have a radar detector in the car. The police will not be impressed, and you'll get a ticket for sure. It's hard to slow down fast enough for them to be effective anyway. If they use their radar gun - you're done anyway.

In an ideal world, I would agree, but respect is a two-way street and our personal reactions are shaped by perception and personal interactions, some of which aren't always favourable. I don't dispute that it's a very challenging and thankless occupation, but they knew the risks and rewards that come with the job, so how they're received depends largely on how they conduct themselves, both on and off-the-clock.

In an ideal world, each person should be evaluated on his/her own merit, that the actions of a questionable few shouldn't be a reflection on everyone who wears the uniform, but all it takes is one bad experience to diminish or destroy that notion.
