Default sigh, stupid people....

I hate not being able to convince ignorant people to buy the format that will survive.

Half my friends, and some of my relatives have been only buying hd dvd players because "its cheaper". So then I tell them how much more support Blu ray has and the movie selection is better. So then they say well you have an add on, and I'm like yea, but I support blu ray, I only have it for Universal titles. Then they're like well paramount just went hd dvd, and thats when I just give up trying to explain.

God how can they be so closed minded to whats actually going on in this war. Has anyone else here had problems like this?

I feel its because they are the "average" consumer and aren't as knowledgeable about the war as we all are. It is just what the studios want (at least on the HD DVD side).

You stopped one step too soon.. you tell them yes but there's still all these studios ONLY releasing for Blu-ray... and that even Spielberg hated the deal so much he got his movies excluded...

I don't think you'll do anything to convince certain people. At best, get them to go dual format.

The big issue is that many people (myself included) can't see or hear a difference between the two. So to the majority of consumers that need to be sold on this, the two formats are equal. The only real difference to them is hardware support and studio support. And that's where blu-ray has the advantage.

With better studio support, even if everyone was dual format, blu-ray would still come out on top.

I don't mind being neutral, but I will only stay neutral until Universal goes Blu. I just got tired of not seeing movies like Hot Fuzz and such in Hi def. But if I had limited money enough to buy one format, it would be BLU all the way, just because its the safer bet to go with.

This has been said for months now, one day it will die, but soon is unrealistic, mainly because paramount had to sell out. I give it till the end of the paramount deal, then I won't need to worry bout not getting all my movies on Blu.

Sorry Mr. Neutral, but I can't help but challenge you every time you post one of your dual format messages. Dual formatting is impractical. A small number of enthusiasts are willing to pay 1,000 USD for a dual format player. Consumers and retailers do not want two formats. The average consumer wants one to take home knowing it will work on their player. Dual formatting will never work, and I can't believe you are continuing to recommend it.
