Default Mirrors Edge....thoughts?

I just picked this game up for 10 bucks. What are everyone's thoughts on this? The demo is kinda complicated for me, and the color scheme is threatening to make me blind. lol

But for 10 bucks hey....

I didn't play it on the PS3 but the game was incredibly fun. You get a hang of the controls after a few minutes. Overall, you got a hell of a good deal

I've played through Mirror's Edge on both systems. I really liked it. There aren't many platformers anymore, especially first person ones. When you hit a string of perfect moves in a row, you really feel cool. But some of the later levels can be pretty tedious. And the gun combat is throw away. Still, it's definitely worth 10 bucks.

Congratulations, you just got an amazing game for 10 bucks. The sound and graphics get you totally emersed in the game. Adjust the brightness in the game menu.. helps quite a bit.

I was a huge fan of the game. People knocked the story, but I thought it was actually really good, but short. Game has major replay value though, if you like the game in the first place.

Also, Faith makes me want to sex her.

The game is pretty great. Innovative design by having an FPS with the option of avoiding standard FPS fare. Story was also decent with some fairly difficult trophies.

You got a good deal. Innovative design tho' the story could've gotten a better shake. Sadly, was an underrated game in a genre that's rampant with copycat/cookie-cutter games.

Supposedly they're working on a sequel.

http://www.videogamer.com/news/ea_co..._s_edge_2.html

Quote:
A ‘small team’ is working on Mirror’s Edge 2, EA has confirmed.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com at E3, the outspoken Patrick Soderlund, who as senior vice president at EA Games Europe oversees all European game development, said he was “excited” by what developer DICE, where he is based, will do with the game.

Mirror’s Edge divided opinion on its release in November 2008. While fans applauded the innovative Parkour-inspired first-person action, critics slammed the game for its short length and poor storyline.

When asked for an update on the future of the IP, Soderlund told us: “Mirror’s Edge was a risky move. It was a bold move, a very innovative and inspiring move. The game wasn’t perfect by any means. We would have liked the game to sell better even though the game has sold better than most people think.”

He added: “You will see another Mirror’s Edge for sure. It’s just a matter of when that time is and what we do with it. We have a small team on it and I’m excited about what we do.”

Soderlund’s comments are the first confirmation that a sequel is in development. Up to this point the game had only been mentioned by EA as a title in consideration. During a December 2008 conference call EA CEO John Riccitiello assured fans that the company wasn’t giving up on the IP, despite less than stellar sales.

As reported by Edge, Riccitiello said: "Mirror's Edge is one that was very strongly reviewed, that one's going to go forward. We're probably going to look into some issues around the design to make sure strong IP is married with strong business."

Unfortunately Soderlund couldn't offer any other details or a possible release date on the game.

Great game but short. Good story. Controls needed a little remapping and improving but nothing that can't be adapted to. It is really fun when you get a good chain going and there are a few roller coaster stomach drop moments. I know a handful of people that say they can't play it cause it makes them get motion sickness. Yeah I got it for 20 and was really happy with it.

I pretty much concur with everyone else. I really enjoyed the game and it's easily worth more than what you paid for it.

Mirror's Edge is the only non-Wii game this gen which has given me motion sickness.

I wanted to like it, really did, but just can't play the game for more than a few minutes.

Probably one of the most underrated games that came out in 08 (along with dead space)

The game is short , the cut scenes are bad, but man is it fun. This is one of those games that gets a lot better once you know what's going on and where to go. The 2nd and 3rd playthru was a lot more enjoyable that the first playthru.

I think you will have fun, especially at that price.

I really wanted to like it but I just couldn't get into it. It seemed very unpolished and the graphics were muddy and fairly ugly.

My gaming time is limited and every time I played it I always felt I could be playing something better.

I am glad that Dice made this game because I like to see games being taken in a new direction and I am happy others enjoyed it, I just couldn't get into it.

And yes I agree with you about Dead Space being underrated. That game is simply amazing and easily beats RE5 in my opinion. Cant wait for the sequel.

Are you sure we are talking about the same game? That was definitely one of the qualities of Mirror's Edge, the graphics.

I enjoyed this game a lot. One of few FPS games I finished from begining to end, so that says a lot. (only other games FPS games I finished was Resistance FOM and COD modern warfare.)

This +1. I thought the gfx were stunning. I love getting to high places (like the crane) and just staring around... I think visual and audio (soundtrack) were extremely well thought out and put into play.

Maybe I havn't gotten through enough of the game to see a lot of the great looking stuff but the training level was border line ugly. The characters look awful and the cut scenes were uhh yeah...

I think the enviornments were simple and elegent but onces you saw an ingame character and interacting with them and it takes you out of the moment a little bit. I still have the game and I will eventually finish it all I just get to frustrated to play it for long periods. I just finished chapter 2 a couple weeks ago.

After seeing all of you guys rave about it and really enjoying it I might have to give it another more dedicated try because I trust y'all opinion.
