Default Some people can't be helped

I thought this would be interesting to share.
I have a friend who against better judgement bought a HD-DVD player for his Xbox 360 even though he has a PS3. He went on a HD-DVD buying frenzy and has 3 times more HD-DVDs than BDs. After I explained to him that he wasn't getting 1080p because of the lack of HDMI on the 360, he sold his 360 and bought an Elite model just for the HDMI support. He foolishly buys all his Warner movies on HD-DVD. Anyone want to help me smack some sense into him? I guess you just can't help some people until they hit rock bottom, and by then you've lost interest.

Don't worry about it. He'll probably run into a disc incompatibility somewhere down the line, so it'll work itself out in the end. Until then, just be glad he's got an interest in hi def movies.

I actually had a talk with someone on specs yesterday and he was saying the VC-1 is better then MPEG, is there any truth or write up on the difference between the quality between Blu and HD Dvd?

I just couldn't imagine watching movies on a player that sounds like a mini air compressor (and I have an Elite).

Ahh, cut the guy a break! Just because we are hard core Blu, doesn't mean everyone is. If and when HD-DVD dies, he'll still have the 360 and HD-DVD player to enjoy the movies he has already purchased, he just won't be able to buy anymore.
You win some, you lose some. Just keep him informed of the developments of both formats and let him make his own decisions...that's the best we can do.

I know alot of people that are supporters of either format, and I just let them know my opinion (if they ask it) and don't push them either way.
