Default I LOVE BLU, but

I have found myself frustrated by this war. Although I am a dedicated supporter of Blu-ray, I am finding hard at times to not buy the cheap HD DVD players for the few titles that I want to see in HD. I'm sure its been said a hundred times, but dammit I want to have everything in HD!!! I will continue to stay true to blu till the end, I will continue to buy blu as much as possible, and I will continue to demonstrate the pure beauty of blu to all nonbelievers. I just need to vent to all who understand and feel cheated by those who withold titles from us because of the sides they have chosen.

I pretty much ignore the other format.

I wish I could ignore the war as I have already joined the winning team but the war remains to interesting to just ignore.

I don't know of any HD DVD's that I want.. Maybe American Warewolf in London but I heard it has a lackluster video quality so no biggie.

Now if Jaws or Scarface was out on HD DVD then maybe I would see your point.

Well if the BD movies aren't in your budget don't buy them. A $300 BD player will probably be here for Christmas anyway so you might not have to wait that long. But seriously, anything spent on Hd-dvd is money towards a lost format.....

Yeah, it would be great to have all the movies on bluray, but if you think of the movies you have compared to the ones you are missing, you'll see the grass is NOT greener on the other side this time.

I don't want to seem unsympathetic...well, I guess I am...but I just don't see the problem. Or I don't see it as a big problem. If it's not available on Blu, I simply rent or buy it on SDDVD. I am enormously impressed with the quality of the upscaling my player provides. So for now, I'm very happy with seeing Universal and Paramount movies upscaled. I can wait for them to go Blu. And they will go Blu. But buying into HD DVD isn't going to make that happen sooner.

You have no idea how close I was myself a couple weeks ago. Had a player and 10 HD DVD movies picked out and was ready to add this in addition to the blu collection/system of my home theater. BUT! What stopped me as hard as it was, was the fact that I knew it would not only prolong the "war" but may contribute to an end result that no one wants. The take over of an inferior technology. Did a 180 and have not looked back. We all need to encourage the studios as we have been, stay tough together united in our cause (who would ever thought we would have to fight to keep a superior format alive) and give support to each other which you will find here every single day. You are amoungst the elite and most intelligent camp ever. Support is always here as are the answers. You are not alone in this feeling of jumping ship for a few good titles, but if we hang tough, be patient and diligent, this end result will be just what we are striving for. A blu planet!

My brother went neutral about 3 weeks ago...it is very tempting to do the same. I will hold out for awhile but it has become very hard as the wife wants Shrek for the grandkids and some other titles not on Blu ray. Last week we went to BB for a GPS for the car and the wife was going through the HD DVD titles and she was wanting to purchase a HD DVD player that day. I told her to wait and see what happens after Cedia. Man I wish BD could of close the door on HD DVD. I guess were stuck with 2 formats.

Imagine sometime down the road, after blu-ray wins, you'd be stuck with an obsolete HD DUD player. And then they will release all those same movies on blu-ray, probably with better picture quailty than the VC-1 HD DUD releases, and most will definitely have better sound quaility. Then what? You're going to re-buy them on blu-ray? Nah, I'll just wait a little while and not contribute to prolonging this war by buying HD DUD.

I feel ya brother, Im die hard Blu-Ray supporter through and through and sadly thats ONLY because I have the PS3, If I didnt I would wait for the dust to settle like most people. Even if, and I mean a big IF, HD-DVD pulls it off and wins, Im not going to buy a player until it is ~$100.

no one likes to waste their money and if you buy a hd-dud player you will for sure be wasting your money and then have to rebuy it in blu-ray form in case the hd-dud version of whatever movie it is doesnt work anymore

Wow. Now that's dedi-ca-shun!

If you want, I could take care of some of those movies and players....

enjoy

I think it is important to keep in mind that you will be able to get all the HD DVD exclusive stuff you want at the end of the war...

There are a few Universal titles I want but I figure that at the end of the war either:

1. Universal will right away release them all on Blu-ray
2. I will be able to buy them and a high quality HD DVD player cheap!

There are also a few titles which were "un-equal" - for example, I have Dreamgirls on Blu-ray but the HD DVD has better sound. Will probably double-dip that one but I figure I can wait till Blu wins!
