Default Movies with TrueHD?

I just watched the Dave and Tim disc with True HD and holy cow. Its so clear, sounds like they rae playing in my living room. What movies have TrueHD 5.1? And its a shame all movies dont have this, it should be mandatory.

Who cares about HD DVD. Why don't you go back to AVS?

No it doesn't, but this one does: TrueHD on HD DVD

Don't get me wrong, PCM is awesome...compared to DD. But once you've heard TrueHD, especially on a movie like 300, you realize that all of this HDMI 1.3 crap and everything else you need is worth it.

PCM is better than TrueHD . . . PCM is uncompressed, where TrueHD is still a compressed audio format.

You sure are a rude person, who does not even know me, what I do, why I'm here. I guess if one becomes a "Power Member" here, it entitles you to be rude to others.

The reason I wanted that information, is for my customers to see and compare the offerings from both camps (Hardware and Software), which my store sells both. I did compliment you on an excellent find and you turn around and make an ******* comment like this? Grow up. [Jim]

Uncompressed or not, what matters is what it really sounds like, not how it's coded, and TrueHD sounds better than PCM.

My bad, I put the smiley there thinking you'd take it as a joke, which is how I meant it. If I really thought that way, I wouldn't have provided the information you asked for. Peace!

Um . . . if anything it sounds the same. There is no change from the master audio track to the PCM track, which means it sounds exactly how it's supposed to . . . TrueHD is compressed, therefore changed from the master track. So, technically (and if you've got the ears/equipment to notice the difference) PCM is better.

if you could tell the difference than you have spidey senses!

Most reviewers say the PCM tracks sound better, but again, I dont honestly think the average listener could tell much difference.

Either way its a WIN WIN for Bluray.

PCM and TrueHD (without any normalization) should sound exactly the same. They are both bit for bit like the source. TrueHD isn't compressed like DD or DTS lossy formats where information is removed. It is compressed like a zip file, and once decoded(unzipped) it is back to the same data as the source.

The only reason a PCM track or TrueHD will sound better is if it is at a higher bitrate or sampling rate like 16bit vs 20bit or 24bit. But then you are comparing apples and oranges which has nothing to do with the audio formats.

If you want to see what titles have which check out Phloyds list at www.blu-raystats.com
He also has a seperate list for HD DVD (which has very few TrueHD or lossless titles compared to BD)

That's why I went on to say if anything they sound the same. But . . . if you have choice A, uncompressed, or choice B, compressed . . . I'll take choice A on principle. But, like we both said, TrueHD won't sound better than PCM. Cajmoyper, what comparison have you done that leads you to this opinion?

Yeah the only reason for TrueHD and DTS MA for that matter is to save space. Soon we probably won't have PCM audio on our BD's which isn't a bad thing. That leaves more room for the video and we still get the same lossless audio with TrueHD or DTS MA. PCM has only been used because every player supports it.

I just watched the remastered 5th Element which has both PCM and TrueHD. Instinctively I did switch it to PCM.
