Default DVDs never coming to Blu

Yo.

What DVDs do you own that you think will be some of the last to be brought over to Blu-ray?

I'm pretty sure I'll be holding on to these beauties on DVD for quite some time:

The Changeling (1980)
Critters
Critters 2
Darkness
Dead Alive aka Brain Dead
Fortress
Fritz the Cat
Ghoulies
Ghoulies 2
Hellraiser 2-7
Highway
The Hole
Hot Shots
Hot Shots: Part Duex
House (1986)
House II: The Second Story
I'm Gonna Get You Sucka
In The Mouth of Madness
Stephen King's IT
The Man Who Wasn't There
Maria Full of Grace
Masters of the Universe
Meet the Feebles
The Million Dollar Hotel
The People Under the Stairs
Poltergeist II
Poltergeist III

I wouldn't be surprised to see most of those on Blu-ray sooner than later.

The bolded ones I would bet my life they will come at some time. Some of the others may also but I don't know them all or they really are movies that may never come to Blu.

FYI, Wizards is already available on BD in the UK. It's region free, I believe:

There are actually tens of thousands of movies on DVD that will never make it to Blu-ray, but almost all the ones from the first post will eventually make it.

I seriously doubt they'll ever release:
"Battle Angel" the original anime
"The Bodyguard" 1 and 2, Thai movies
"Castle Freak"
"The Escapist"
"Gene Generation"
"Meatball Machine"
"Onechanbara Bikini Samurai Squad"
"The Onion Movie"
"Pinocchio 964"
"The Pit and the Pendulum" 90s version
"Project A-Ko"
"Rikki-Oh! The Story of Rikki"
"Rubber's Lover"

And these seem a bit borderline to me:
"Azumi" 1 and 2
"Battle Royale II"
"Devil Man"
"Dune" miniseries
"The Executioner" 1 and 2
"The Fortress"
"GI Samurai"
"The Martian Chronicles" miniseries
"My Science Project"
"A Picture of Dorian Gray" 20s version
"Ringu" and its many sequels
"Seed"
"The Stand" miniseries
"Tokyo Gore Police"
"Tunnel Rats"
"V" original miniseries
"Vampire Hunter D"
"Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust"
"Virus" 1975 Sonny Chiba movie
"Virus" newer horror movie
"X: The Movie"

And probably loads of others I missed.

With some of the obscure titles getting release dates, I think all bets are off. I mean if a film like Magic gets a release date who knows? Great movie btw.

I'll add to the list:

Movies that may never see the light of day on blu:

Psycho Beach Party
Barbarella
LEXX - the series

Movies that will take a while:

Nosferatu 1979
Kill Bill Vol. 1 Japanese edition. I'm talking just for a japanese release to say nothing about an NA release
Lost World
Mighty Joe Young

I could add more but suffice to say a nice chunk of my dvd collection may never get blu upgrades.

Is STRAND releasing anything on BD? If so I'd say it's a safe bet PBP will eventually get released. It's a definite cult classic and probably one of their better sellers.

A surprising number of "smaller" releases are getting put out due to ownership of a lot of them being with smaller studios, etc.

I'd never thought I'd see the following, especially so early in the life of BD -- but we have 'em.

Black Christmas (1974)
My Bloody Valentine (1981)
Near Dark
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer
Bound
Rock & Roll High School
The Stepfather (it took a studio remake to even get the DVD out, in 2009... it was OOP on VHS for like 15 years prior...)

Just like there are plenty of titles that never made it to DVD -- there are several might not get put on BD... but sometimes things will surprise you. Troll 2? Hey, it's apparently deemed a sellable title (I know I want a copy... )

If a smaller studio owns a title and it's might make them a lot of money -- they'll get it out there.

I don't think Strand have any BD's for sale. Heck they still sell vhs including a collection of silent hardcore shorts which was on their main store page. Go figure.

I've personally never seen Psycho Beach Party sold in stores where I live or most strand titles. It also took several years for the price to even drop from a ridiculous $36.99 to a reasonable $15 in canada online.
